    Nice!

It sounds like the shop might have been in the middle of the kit purchase also? Just crazy regardless when the tune is the biggest factor in the whole deal.

I did that on my 2020, but now the dang red "no Seatbelt' light in the cluster bliniks constantly (when I throw my BK on the passenger seat). I don't think it did that when the chime was turned on. I think it only flashed for the minute that the chime sounded, and then 5 minutes down the road, and chimed again. I may need to switch back and see if the flashing light becomes intermittent again, or my memory is junk.

For mine, just the red seatbelt symbol on the speedo side of the cluster flashes, that's all. No biggie

he actually couldn't find the tune when I asked him for it. Magnuson has provided me with the tune I have and today they sent me the tune for the updated ecu. pretty snappy about it too. I just had a really hard time getting vf tuner and tech stream to work when I tried it today. I couldnt dedicate a whole lot of time or effort to it though as I was busy with other things. I really do appreciate all your time and efforts (everyone) that has chimed in to help me out. no way id even attempt this kind of thing without this community

I think we're in the same boat, I had a shop install my sc, and tune it. I have the VFTuner hardware, and downloaded the software yesterday, Thanks mZiggy, now trying to get the program to open is where I'm at. I sent an email to VFTuner yesterday and Matthew is helping me with that, I sent him my serial number on the tuner, and I guess we'll go from there..

So it seems like shops probably give the customer the tactrix and device but neglect to give them the tune file, the most important part of it all lol

As a caveat off of this, we definitely recommend taking advantage of updating ECU version if you have that option available to you. Seems like Magnuson is generally pretty accommodating WRT providing updated tune files following ECU update.

My ECU is 04A70 will your tune work with that? Also I’m one of the first people to get the SC so I don’t have vftuner. I have a lite version of OVTune that came with mine. Will I still be able to install your tune?
    Thanks

You should have VFTuner if it came with the supercharger.

The Magnuson supercharger and accompanying tune was released after VFTuner was released.

You will not be able to flash our tune without VFTuner.

Our tune can be provided for 04A70, but updating would be preferred, to 04A71 at minimum, if not 04A72. You can request the appropriate tune from Magnuson for the updated ECU as well.

I wish that was true, Magnuson has the absolute worst customer service of anyone I've ever dealt with. I had a leaking tank cap, which apparently is a common problem, and took 5 days to get them to agree to send me a new, claiming the whole time that I didn't register my SC, which I did, and thank God I saved both the electronic version, and the paper version.
Then after about 1,700 miles my SC developed a rattling problem and that took 6 (six) weeks to get taken care of while my truck sat at the shop.

If there is any way that I can keep them out of getting my truck tuned I will.

I’ll be sticking with 04A70 if it works. My local Toyota will not touch my Tacoma. It’s hard to get them to do recalls. I do not trust my techstream copy.

my tuning software that came with the supercharger literally says orange virus tuning.

04A70 is like 04B12 for the 2017 and is generally awful. The versions of TS posted in the ECU Update thread have been used by countless folks with no reported issues once they were completely installed.

I would really encourage you to get on 04A72 and feel the very noticeable differences.

    Excellent!

    Agreed, highly recommend updating.

Even after I said I'd support some/most of the older ECUs, I still give very serious consideration to not supporting the older ECU versions. Just like how I absolutely refuse to support 04B00-03 and 04B10-12, I have considered including the oldest ECU versions for other model years in this list, such as 04A70, 04B80, 04B90, 04B40, and 04B60. And I think that's still pretty accommodating considering the fact that that doesn't even rule out all of the older ECU versions, since there are several model years that have three available ecu versions due to 2 different/subsequent updates being available.

Furthermore, it's a moot point anyway until you get VFTuner software. Without VFTuner software, you will be unable to flash your truck with the YW tune.

    Same boat,
Matthew was pretty quick to respond a couple of days ago, but he hasn't replied to email I've sent two days ago.

Went through @tonered and @mZiggy threads and advice on updating TSB to current ECU and then requested updated file for Magnuson tune(1 day turn-around) took all of 15 minutes total time to do the combined updates.
All ready for the YW Tune and I must say it’s great such a community exists especially with the investments we all make with these trucks. Wouldn’t have been able to complete without community for sure.
