Love how everybody on this site is expert. We have all been in crappy situation and we judge this guy. At the time he made a poor decision we all do that from time to time. You have to pay to play.

We have been in crappy situations, most of us have recovery points, gear and tires that are not bald. I hope at minimum the individual learned to get new tires.

He was in a natural spring. Tires alone probably wouldn't have saved him

Before it was frozen in place, I wonder if one of those exhaust jacks would have done the trick on the soft ground or maybe those traction mats :notsure:

Thought about that too. But, being unprepared got them in trouble. It's a mistake everyone makes at some point.

Plus I'm pretty sure that is a 2wd fj.... tires won't help that in mud and ice.

lol, ok, ok...I may have been a little harsh on this guy about his bull bar and such. I'm still mad for buying one for my taco in the 90's that was crap and useless! I've since learned my lesson and hopefully he will too.....gotta have more recovery points in situations like this.

He went alone?! I know a lot of guys do and that's great if you're equipped properly.

 didn't want to rip ya too hard so I kept the language clean! Those aren't useless if you want to add lights and don't run into stuff haha and I actually was gonna buy one about 3 years ago and decided against it.

I don't think he was alone, at first anyway. I read on the Facebook thread he went to get a buddy unstuck, after he got his buddy out, he got stuck and his buddy bailed. If he would have posted he needed help getting out that night I could have ran up there and winched him out.

This was just a natural spring. Down there you get sinkholes that swallow neighborhoods and such right? :D We do have mines all over out there though that appear in a hurry and have swallowed a few ATV's and guys that don't know how to stay on the trail.
