    Loud as hell URD exhaust!
I feel for you man, I'm sure it just leaves a knot in your stomach considering it's such a new truck. It's going to take awhile before you are able to trust it again.

If it were me I would contemplate trading it in...even if it meant taking a loss.

Already thought about it.... But ordering the exact truck you want and then to get rid of it so quickly? Sucks... Should have just kept my 06 Tacoma seeing as though it's the exact same thing as the '14. Well ,technically, I still have it since its not sold yet...

I would be very demanding of how the truck repairs are listed in the computer. Nothing more than a radiator leak and replacement need be listed. If the dealer list possible engine damage they would need to show proof to me or I would call them out on fraud to lower the value of my new truck.

I don't doubt something got in there, it's the 1400 miles of use that have me leaning towards a freak incident.

Push for the extended warranty, pay for your repair, check their published and documented report then enjoy the truck.

At this point it falls under that pre-disastered category where no more harm will ever come to it.

If your going to have an issue it's going to happen long before your drive train warranty runs out.

Very good point about the damage documtation. That is exactly my concern. The tech gave it a green light on Thursday after the new radiator and fan went in so one could argue that the engine is fine, confirmed by Toyotas technician. What more should be reported since it would be speculation at this point.

So, what did the new radiator, fan and labor cost you?

They said they would extend the insurance rate to me if I was going to pay for it at a cost just shy of $700.

Personally, I would fight the dealer entry about anything engine related, or at a minimum no engine damage occurred.

They replaced a damaged radiator and fan, re serviced the fluids, and had no faults found upon completion of the work. I would also have them note what they stated, road debris was deflected into the cooling fan and damaged the fan and radiator. No fault codes to indicate engine damage and no engine damage noted.

This is as bad as doing aircraft logbook entires and squawk sign offs.

Best of luck, I would see if you could bargain them for some TRD parts at cost since you still spent $700 and did not go to Toyota Corporate for a goodwill type warranty.

Exactly, the dealer is the one suggesting possible engine damage. If they enter that into the trucks permanent records, they should have something to support their claim. If they can not then it is speculation on their part and should not be noted. Yes it may have overheated and ruined everything, then again it may have no heat related damage.

You would suspect they could accomplish a cooling system pressurization test to validate "no leaks" on their radiator install. Pretty simple and very little time spent. Really though there is not much short of failure that will tell for certain.

Not arguing this with you, just hesitant of some dealer actions.

I could understand as an owner that I would be pissed too. When it comes to reading things online it's really hard to tell if a person is mad, angry etc. You can only go off so much of what you're reading in someone's opening post. We've had people come here slamming a business for whatever a reason, not giving us all the information. Having it only be one sided. There are times that people are just irrational at the time because of something bad happening with their vehicle, which is understandable(they're mad). Then you got the other side of people who are just pissed because things didn't go the way they wanted. Or instead of talking to the company first and trying to resolve it, they come to slam the company online. There can be repocutions to doing this as well.

I personally have never heard anything like this before(your case). I know it does seem far fetched but it's a possibility something flew up inside. From what I can tell so far, a lot of people here are very curious(like myself) to see the outcome of this. I just wanted you to understand that there is a lot against you. I just wanted to try to make things a little more logical and calm you down a bit about it. It's going to be an uphill battle. We're all here for information and knowledge to try and help. Some people are just here to blame either you or the dealership without giving it any thought. That's just irrational and dumb, it happens though.

I'm just saying, keep us posted on what happens.

No kidding, but the pisser was when I got to the dealer everything was already taken apart. But, I don't blame them for that since thats what the truck was there for, to get looked at... They may have found Jimmy the mechanics special screwdriver in there, who knows. Maybe not though...

It boggles my mind that a rock could get sucked up under the truck going 40 mph ( snow storm) and get past the skid plate and damage the engine side of the radiator.... I'm not a bettin man, but those odds HAVE to be pretty high!

I completely agree, I will certainly be on that. Great point!

Btw, they claimed they "did all the tests" to confirm the engine is "good" after the radiator install and before test driving it 3 times on Thursday.

We are not saying that something might have gotten "Sucked" up into the engine compartment. If something did get up in to it, it had to have been thrown up in there from the road.

Stop and think about this for a minute.... How many times have you been driving down the road, highway or such and heard something hit the under carriage of your car or truck? I know I have in my 35 years of driving. This is exactly how something gets thrown up in there.

I hear ya, but isn't that what the skid plates for? Have you looked under the engine compartment? Mind you, the engine side of the radiator was damaged, not the front which makes more sense to me. Thats some s$it luck.
