I hated working on that car. Something as easy as changing the plugs took forever. God forbid you drop something in that engine bay.

The thing about repairing, maintaining and cleaning is, it’s not an adventure. There’s no way to do it so wrong you might die. It’s just work. And the bottom line is some people are okay going to work and some people would rather die. Each of us gets to choose.

Basically relates any professional to his home life.... A mechanics car always needs work, a construction worker always has unfinished projects at home etc...

People sometimes spend so much time working on other peoples things, their own projects take second in line.

At least thats how I always interpreted the saying... Im no english major.:notsure:

It makes sense. That is truly how it is. As a professional auto technician my vehicle mostly falls by the wayside because I'm tired of working on vehicles by the end of the day.

Eye roll at people who can't handle the gear oil smell.
    It hardly smells at all.

Routine maintenance is not something I mind. I do mind doing repairs/changing out parts. Usually I pay someone to do that.

If you hate working on your truck imagine how bad the guys that do it for a living hate it. Yeah they get paid but it has to get old doing it day in and day out....unless it's your passion.

Working on my truck has become a zen thing for me. I have a desk job, so I love it. In fact I wish I had more time to do things. Maintenance, mods, whatever.

When I was young, I had time and motivation to do anything and everything to my car. Alas I had no money to do any of it.

Now I am older and have all the money to do whatever I want... I have no time or motivation.

I don't do anything that requires my body on the ground. It takes too damned long to get back up. :(

I admit that rear diff is low hanging fruit. Super easy. I started there for motivation. The longest part was watching it drain, and of course the hand pumping it back in.

The front. I put that drain plug in last time; And it was tight! I think it just locks on there. I actually broke my ratchet on it. Crappy CRAFTSMAN TOOL.

And my old oil was filthy. The dirtiest I’ve ever seen it. Glad it’s done. Now I can drive to Texas knowing irs clean.

I enjoy working on my own truck. Of course I have all the tools I need including a scanner to do it properly. And access to a rack, alignment rack, tire machine and balancer. Working in a shop has its perks
