They are service dogs just like a search and rescue dog they are here for the people and to service us..

If you are being chased by one you are a criminal therefore you already had it coming.

The actions of a few bad apples don't justify taking away an important tool (K9s) for the rest of the police force. For the reason guns shouldn't be taken away from the masses for the actions of a few deranged individuals.

Do dogs always listen and comply with a humans commands ?

What happens when a dog is out of range from its handler ?

Dogs bite with great force and cause serious injuries. Dogs do NOT know when a subject is complying and dogs have no way to understand nuiances of the law and when to cease use of force.

Even if a subject is running that does NOT give any authority for human officers or canine officers to use force that causes injuries.

Dogs are over used by police and thankfully their usage is slowly being scaled back by the supreme court.

    -Trained right, Yes.

What happens when a dog is out of range from its handler ?
-You cant outrun a dog, Once the suspect is caught the dog is called back. Also if you think the dog will attack strangers? It wont, Once again Training is Key.

Dogs bite with great force and cause serious injuries. Dogs do NOT know when a subject is complying and dogs have no way to understand nuiances of the law and when to cease use of force.
-But criminals know dogs bite with great force, So if you dont heed the verbal warning then i guess you think you can handle the pain.

Even if a subject is running that does NOT give any authority for human officers or canine officers to use force that causes injuries.
-What the fuck are you talking about?! Does NOT give authority? Im pretty sure running from the Police, Especially a K-9 Officer gives more then enough authority.

Dogs are over used by police and thankfully their usage is slowly being scaled back by the supreme court.
-Let me know your opinion when someone hurts your family or steals your shit and the officer tells you that he didnt want to release the dog because he didnt want to harm the criminal, So he got away.

Police spend hundreds of thousands of dollars around the country to have there dogs trained. I would love to hear your stand on the use of tazers.

    See the red.

To clarify... I understand that there are exceptions to the first two things a said... There may be instances where a K9 will fail to obey a command, maybe their handler becomes incapacitated or otherwise unable to issue a command, but K9's have a very well documented history of being extremely valuable in Law Enforcement, Military, SAR, and detection of explosives...

Just because there have been incidences doesn't mean they should be ruled out as an option... Tasers, OC spray, and Baton's are considered non-lethal, but they can sometimes cause serious injury as well... It doesn't mean they aren't useful and necessary.

The supreme court cases that are specific to K9 use in law enforcement are mostly in regards to their use in "drug sniffing" capacities, the argument being that K9's can be used to infringe on someone's 4th amendment right against illegal search and seizure... Not so much in their application of force on a fleeing suspect.

    how much do you have?
IMO, k-9's are very useful to officers, and if you're stupid enough to run you're stupid enough to get bit.

lol pretty funny. i know some K9 officers and those dogs are pretty cool. and nice when just sitting next to the handler.

x100000. If you are stupid enough to run then you should be bit or tazed! also the dog can run a lot faster, and if they did not have the dogs bad guys have a better chance of getting a way, when they jump out of a car and get a 20 second head start running.

At my agency, the K9 units conduct training with the dogs on a weekly basis. This includes the bite sleeve, running tracks, room/building clearing, and sniffs.

If the dog doesn't listen, and fucks up at training on a consistent basis, it doesn't get certified, and is deemed untrainable and removed from the street.

Each dog has to go through a full certification period before being able to be used in the field. If they don't pass, they don't get outta the car. And like I said, if its a pattern, they get shit canned.

I have alot of knowledge about police and their use of dogs.

Dogs make alot of mistakes and they shouldnt be used as much as police use them.

also the only people that really hate the cops or any LE agency (fish and game or what every) are the people that do illegal stuff, and don’t want to stop doing illegal stuff.

my guess is the the one guy got bit because he ran, or the dogs found a bunch of drugs in his taco, or another car he had.
