There are two different manufacturers for the Tacoma gas pedal assemblies. Denso and someone else--CTS?

Perhaps the flexy pedal is one and the firm pedal is the other.

I have an 07 with 22k and there is about 2-3mm movement..
Something to keep an eye on just the same.
Like JKD says.."Perhaps the flexy pedal is one and the firm pedal is the other"

Indeed I am fanboy right now. Actually I am a certified mechanic for Lexus and was looking into trading in my F150 for a Tacoma and thought I would surf the forums to investigate what the consumers think before I purchase one. You guys are very knowledgeable on this forum and through work I can look up TSIBs and what not but that doesn't tell me anything about the people who drive them everyday.

That plastic is a lot stronger than it looks, flex and all. They test these sorts of things in a laboratory environment where they apply hundreds of thousands if not millions of repeated depressions of the pedal by machine and then analyze for fractures and stress.

I agree, but perhaps the mounting surface in the lab was flatter or more stable. I now suspect there might be a lump of sealant or something on the floor under mine that's causing it to bear unevenly against the floor.

I'll have to take it off and look, because half the people here claim their's doesn't move. Clearly half of them do.

What else could cause that, unless they are different parts.

But the other assembly looks quite different from mine, based on the photos I've seen. It should be easy to see which one people have.

i was thinking the same thing. so far, zero. obviously it's not an issue, regardless of how it looks... (not to say i wouldn't like to see them make things even sturdier)

Caddmannq , I tried mine and I have no obvious flexing , I was wondering if there was any indication on the part that might allow us to tell which manufacturer it was from , I could only read a small TOYOTA on the left side of mine , no Denso or other markings visible except for a serial # .

Well, it's been 4 years now and the pedal has not failed. The dealer did do the "grind off the pedal" recall service, but would not actually change the pedal.

It still wiggles a bit, & it seems to be wiggling a bit more than before, but it's basically because the mounting tabs don't bear on a really flat surface. It's never come loose though.

Thanks for the follow up post Cadd. Most people never come back to their threads to give a final review or report a resolution. Especially after 4 years.
