This video compliments these photos well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpbcyA4uhy0&feature=youtu.be

Straight forward project. 997 Carrera with nightmare paint getting 40 hours of correction. The pitting on the hood was pointed out to the owner but he was not concerned with it. Beyond that, there would be no guarantee that it could have been cleaned up. The paint was measuring thin in spots on every panel. The paint measured from 80-115 microns all over the car.

The owner had applied some real junk on the tires. Some kind of Armor All rubberizer that was layered onto the tires. To remove it I had to use some high pressure water to cut it apart.

Nasty weather to start the preparation under.

The next 2 shots only show off the attention to even the small areas like that space between the headlamps and the hood. Every inch of the fenders were given a ton of attention.

Looks great, and even more impressive that it was done in a regular old garage with poor lighting!

The garage lighting was bad, but I keep some intense halogen lighting as well as some LED lighting that I work by.

I have 2 flex 3401s 2 GG DAs and a Makita rotary. I focused on the heaviest damage with the Makita and a wool pad while my assistant did some of the lighter correction.

40 hours of work, insane! Can I ask what that kind of work would cost?

Sounds like a lot. But it absolutely increases the value of cars substantially. In this case, his car now has one of the best factory finishes in the state. When he decides to sell it, if maintained well, it will look very close to how it does now and will sell for much more and far faster than before.

This is one of those cases when it really is an investment and not just a luxury.

I agree with you, 100% Especially on a high-end vehicle like that, it will absolutely help with resale, and the overall enjoyment of the current owner. Nice work!

This is true for even every day vehicles.

For stock-like trucks, the honey spot for making money investing in paint is closer to $500. When your paint looks better than every other truck someone is looking at, it's obvious to the buyer and he will want the cleanest paint. Paint and then fabric. Those two surfaces cost a lot of money to fix and if they look amazing, the choice for a buyer is easy. ;)

Nice save!! I hear the Porsche paint is generally super soft. Is it softer than Toyota? Generally speaking of course.

Probably being a jerk here, but that person doesn't deserve to own that car... or any car over $15k. Boggles the mind on how people treat their cars. again this is my personal opinion... =)

    great work on the car!
