I have posted a few threads now, gas mileage, noises, among other things. I was checking out threads on gas mileage, and everyone agrees air filter, so I go check my 2014 CERTIFIED truck I bought 4 months to see what kind of aur filter is in it , much to my surprise this, is this why my gas mileage sucks, 128 point inspection for certified?is this eve possible?

Clearly rodents. Could have easily happened after the certification inspection.

Looks like you got a rodent problem! Better get some spray keep them out of there and from eating your wires. Time to set up traps or get a ferral cat.

Same way a rodent gets anywhere, finds a nice warm hole and crawls up there, looks around and says this would be a great place to have 600 kids and then starts nesting. You're lucky he didn't try to chew threw the air filter.

    Yep rodents it is!
Here is a chewed up filter. I have seen air boxes completely filled with dog food and were talking 25 lbs of it!!! You would be amazed at the things rodents will eat or chew on. How about a totally destroyed wiring harness for a prius shorted out and ruined.

It's an on going running gag that one some posts somthing messed up or damaged the fix is to "buff it out" (like to polish and wax a minor scratch to remove the visible damage) the reason it's funny is usually buffing it out isn't going to be helpful in the slightest.

Sorry, we think we're a funny bunch. Lol.

Welcome to the forum and glad you found your issue there.

Bad news if they start in on the wires. Which they often like to do.
