We got a bit of snow here in SE Wisconsin a couple days back, and I was able to test out my week-old Tacoma's stock Dunlop AT20's.

The day before the snow was due to hit, I found an abandoned parking lot that was a playground for snow mobiles and trucks, and I got a feel for how the truck behaved in 4wd and snow. I traded in a full-size Chevy which just bulled right through snow, so this was a bit of a change. What I found was the stock tires, while not nearly as good as a set of AT's, got the job done in the abandoned parking lot.

When the snow hit, it was heavy and wet. We ended up with 3-4 inches on the ground after it was said and done.

By the end of the day, I hadn't put the truck in 4wd at all. The only time the traction control kicked in was getting started up a steep hill from a stop.

2011 2.7 Liter with Dunlops - 29k miles, still have about 50-60% tread life. I have to say these tires have performed much better than I expected when I bought the truck - but I still hate them.

They've done well in the contant Washington rain - never hydroplaned. Done well in the snow up here as well - I do take it real easy in the snow for no other reason than all the idiots out there.

That being said - I can't wait to get this tire off my truck.

My truck came with the Bridgestone duellers. Put about 10,000kms (2 months) of driving on them before I lifted it and threw 33" MUDs on the truck.

No complaints about them at all. I bought the truck in December and spent about 3 weeks with it up at the ski hills and driving around with it constantly below 0 (Celsius) and snow on the ground. At no point did I spin out or get stuck. I was young and dumb and remember speeds of over 140km/hr in the snow on the highway going through the mountains. No issues. Being Bridgestone prob not a cheap tire so I would never buy again but not a bad tire to come from the factory with.

HAHA...same as with my stock AT20s. Even when making a left turn on asphalt from a stop (so obviously not trying to drift or anything). I have gotten funny looks from bystanders when they were particularly squealy!

so far I havnt had any issues, they are great on the highway and have performed well on well built fire roads (have driven through 2 feet of snow and mud, but there was always a solid rocky base under that)

they might not be a top shelf tire, but they work just fine for me so far

Stock Rugged fails where crap. Completely useless at roughly 30K miles.

Next set, BFG A/Ts. Awesome one and off road, ran roughly 60K before swapping tires due to a few nails.

Following set, used Michelin LTX M/S that I got with 50ishK miles, put 10K on those and liked em. Decent off road, made the truck feel like a Caddy on road.

I'm back to BFG A/Ts, 265/75. Best tires I've ran, I love them.

Do you guys have uneven wear. Mine is a 2012 DC at 17k miles (Stock 245/75/16). My front left, the outside has worn out the most. I am going to rotate them today. I never rotate them before.

What is the torque for the wheel nuts?

Lug nuts should be 85# torque.

    Suggest having alignment checked.

Next set of tires buy with lifetime free rotate/balance - have it done every 5000 miles.

Paraphrasing Henry II on a truck website???? ;)

I've got 16K on the Bridgestones with no issues so far. Well, other than they suck hugely off-road. I'll be replacing them before too long but not sure with what yet.

^^^ I had silent armors on my F150.. I liked them, tough, good traction all around, and heavy.

Almost 10K miles on the dunlops and they still look new........

Alright, stupid question I'm sure, but what is the difference between "A/T" and "T/A" tires? I get that A/T is all-terrain, but I've searched here and Google to find what the differences with the T/A designation and apparently I blow at searching. Is it a BFG-only designation?

    ^^THIS^^

I bought a 2013 last month with Dunlops on it and they were so bad I bought new tires within a week. They were some of the worst tires I've ever driven on. I couldn't really afford new tires but I felt it was that important.

If I had to do it over again, I would have saved myself money and hassle and negotiated new tires into the deal.

I had the factory dunlops replaced at day of delivery right at the dealership....they gave me a $90 per tire credit towards some wranglers...A little better tire ,but the dunlops had the rep of being crap .

For those of you that had your tires replaced at the dealer when you bought the truck, what did you get as a credit for your rugged fails? If a Dunlop gets $90, what's a good credit for a BFG RT?

I sold mine locally online for 125/tire. Took about 3 days to get rid of them.
