After great advice by canyonchaser on tire size, Thanks Again dp, I 've pretty much decided on Cooper Discoverer A/T3's in LT 245/75R16 Load Range C to approximate original tire diameter and weight. I have a 2008 Tacoma Double Cab with the TRD package. I do a fair amount of off road driving with trails having rocks plus towing a 2,700 travel, thus the load range C.

I read numerous tests on these tires and they are glowing. What concerns me a bit are some reviews from people saying theyare noisy and get a lot noiser as they age, don't hold air well, don't wear well and puncture easily. While many also liked these tires, those issues came up enough to give concern.

The knowledge on this board is impressive. If anyone has experience with these tires regarding noise, holding air, wear and puncture resistance, please comment.

If anyone has a different tire you would recommend, please do so. Thanks in advance!

Alright, I swore there was one thread on here already but I'm too lazy to prove/disprove right now. I have 265/75/16 load C on my truck, I have only had one that has given me trouble holding air but it had a metal rod stuck in it at the time. No issues before or after that. I have had mine for about 2 years, 40K on them, I would be able to probably get another 2 or 40K more out of them if I didn't live in a snow area I would keep running them but they have to go, even when new I was disappointed in their snow capabilities.

I don't feel they puncture easily, I ran over a board that I saw nails sticking out of on the way home on the highway, I didn't have enough reaction time to miss it and I got zero holes from that thank god.

Mine are wearing horribly. the out sides has been a heel-toe issue or cupping. I have been lazy about getting them re balanced, they suck for staying balanced (atleast mine do) and I have not checked alignment or suspension. Nothing feels loose while driving

As far as noise the irregular wear has made them super noisy.

All said and done, I am now looking at Duratracs, KO2, or I'm not really sure exactly, leaning towards KO2. Snow performance is a must for where I live and I can not tolerate the mediocrity I feel I have gotten from them in that regard. I listened to people that live near me that are just too cheap to invest in tires so they never bought good ones for the winter use and they claim these were the best they ever owned.

If I lived in the south where I never saw snow then I would buy these again to be honest.

I've had my Cooper's on for four years and 55k miles and couldn't be happier. These are by far the best tires I've owned. I can comment on the losing air issue but it's only been one tire and it's not huge deal to me. It only loses a pound or so every few months.

Yes they are louder than when new but it's not bad even with the windows down. I haven't had any unusual wear issues. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set but my next set will be more aggressive tread design.

I have only had mine for about 3000 miles. No issues thus far, they hold air, great offroad here in the desert. I find them quiet on the road, definitely less noise than the ATPs I had prior. btw 275/70r17 load C

I don't have them, but my buddy just got them installed on he's 4runner and couldn't be happier. They are not that loud when compared to other AT tires. Pretty good traction and road manners on the highway and city streets. They do well on dirt. Cant say how they do in wet weather since it never rains here in California.

oh yeah, in wet weather they are pretty good in my opinion. never hydroplaned or lost traction yet.

I've put about 3k on mine and love them, mix highway/city/national forest fire roads. No issues with losing air.
    No issues at all actually.

I'll throw this one out there, you could check out the geolandder g015, winter service rated and pretty good overall.

I have about 35000 miles on mine and think they are great and am getting another set before the snow flies. I had original KO's on my 94 pickup and really liked those too but they were spendy and noisy (to be expected). If all I was doing was driving in snow and offroad I would get the KO2's but I do a lot of overland (3300 miles in 2 weeks last month) and am perfectly happy with the AT3's overall on wet, snowy and even offroad. Pros and cons to all the tire choices, you probably won't hate any choice you make. Good luck.

I love my discoverers. I just got a second set of them put on. Never had any issues with the from the rain in florida to the snow in Wyoming. Lasted 60k too

I have them on my truck for about 10k miles, 265/75-16s, Load C. So far been super happy with them. Not noisy at all, they have a bit of a hum but even my wife doesn't find it uncomfortable. Wearing fine, no balance issues, haven't put a bit of air in any of them in 10,000 miles and they are all still at full pressure. Haven't driven them in the snow yet, but in the rain they've stuck like I'm on rails. No problems off-road, good grip, no failures, although I'm more of a light-to-moderate off-roader. Actually thinking about putting a set of these on my wife's Pilot, it's due for new shoes in about six months or so.

I've got 235/85/16s in load range E And prior to this set, I had another in 265/75r16 in Pmetric.

Very satisfied with both sets, extremely smooth ride, quiet, surprising grip in rain and off road conditions. I think they're an awesome tire for the price, no complaints at all.

I've got @6k miles on mine, 265/75/16, load range C. No issues, whatever. Run smooth on pavement; handle wet and snow w/o issue. I'd get them, again.
