1979 HiLux 4wd. Here in Tampico Mexico, enroute to Mexico City, 1988. Too dangerous to drive at night, at least at that time, have to take 2 hops from border to Mexico City if you go down the coast from Brownsville TX. . Have very few pictures of this excellent truck. Drove for 13 years until it rusted out.
    1992 4Runner. Drove 17 years
Not pictured. 2009 Highlander. Decent 4wd, it’s got a rear driveshaft, but not a truck. Drove 9 years.
2018 Tacoma OR. Current truck along with the little guy,
Newest to me. 1980 Hilux 4wd. Base model, no a/c, ps, tach. Wheels and mirrors got upgraded over the years. Super clean, CA truck.69BB67F4-B237-4843-9433-A1DDF51B0D0B.jpg37E1D756-9E7F-466D-9AF1-BEE165DA4ECC.jpg 59CECC72-40AD-4C43-B273-743966618623.jpg42E8809B-0B93-414F-BEAD-E91CA653B958.jpg

My first Toyota pickup was a used truck made up from '81 and '82 parts with an '85 SR5 long box. The engine was a 22R and never quit. The transmission was 5-speed manual 4x4, solid front axle, with external hub locks. The tires were Dick Cepek's 31 inches tall by 16.5 inches wide. Each body panel was a different colour with a black rattle-can cover-up. Most body panels were dented, even the roof. This truck was affectionately called Old Lumpy. I had to leave Old Lumpy back on Vancouver Island BC when I moved to Ontario. It would never have passed any inspections in Ontario.
Twenty years later, I bought another used Toyota pickup. 2017 Tacoma TRD OR ACLB 6MT and it is almost as fun as Old Lumpy.

    oldlumpy1.jpg new_tires1.jpg

    No dents this time :)

My first was a 1986 4runner. Bought it from the original owners, showroom condition with 80000 miles on it in 2007.

then i accidentally put it on its side, so i long traveled it.

sold it in 2013 after i blew the motor, then 6 months ago looking on craigslist i found what’s left of it in a junk yard. All intact but no drivetrain.

To now my 2013 I bought new.

I bought my first toyota truck in 1979 new it was the second one to arrive in Utah with 'factory 4 wheel drive' (everything before was a pos hack job aftermarket deal) it had a 20R 4 banger, 4 speed manual, 5:56 gears gutless little turd wouldn't go 70mph DOWNHILL! But let me be the first to say I beat the living shit outta that truck in the oil patch for 2 years & 120,000 miles GAVE it to my friend that turned it into a SCORE off road class 7 4x4 race truck that won a boatload of races & if memory serves 1 class championship in 1980....I think?.......he eventually wadded it up so bad it was finished.
From the day I bought it to the day it died I always said " If Toyota ever builds a full size truck I'll be the first in line to buy one" well that day never happened for whatever reason.......41 years later I buy my SECOND toyota truck a 2018 tacoma DCLB in inferno orange been kicking my ass ever since for not having a Toyota in my garage since 1979

Sorry no pics of my beloved 79 they somehow over time are lost, here's one of my second toyota20201026_121929-1.jpg

I'm still saying "if Toyota ever builds a REAL 3/4 ton full size truck I'll be the first in line"

If that day happens Ford, GM & Ram will be FINISHED

I'll try again, my second 00 Tacoma Xc V6 4x4. My driving skills are better than my computer skills. Still sitting in the garage, can't seem to part ways with it /sell it.

No pics of my first truck, which was also a Toyota. (Unless you count an El Camino as a truck). 1992 Toyota extended cab pickup. That’s back when they were just two door pickups. 22re engine in a manual 4x4. Never should have traded it in.

Fast forward many vehicles and years later and here’s my 2018 OR.

.... have a lot of love for my first gen, still a champ after almost 20 years and I swear they are more fun to drive now with all the larger trucks. The DCLB is nice though. Great history looking though these pictures, lots of memories made in these trucks

Saw this likely first and current (albeit not Taco) on the Interstate yesterday. Wasn't sure where to post but wanted to share. Never realized Nissan may have borrowed a few lines from Toyoto in designing the god-awful "cube"..
