I’m not talking gas stations that are 50 cents cheaper. Those are not detergent gasolines. You pay less and get noticeably less MPG. I’m tallking about gas stations like my Circle K who (on gasbuddy) list the gas as Union 76 detergent gas. After filling up, my gas gauge starting dropping fast. I then went and filled up at an ARCO station, and my gas gauge needle showing full after 30 miles. Beware of Circle K gas. Sometimes it’s good (previous fill ups) other times it’s ridiculously bad. ARCO is consistently good and on par with Circles K’s so called top tier gas prices. Sorry about the topic misspelled.

    My experience doesn’t match yours.
The difference is negligible at best for me.

I can tell a difference between E10 and %100 Gasoline.
But even then, it’s not enough for me to pay more or seek stations with %100 Gasoline. Maybe 30 more miles to the tank.

Mine was an outrageous difference in sudden lower MPG. Gasbuddy says it was Union 76 top tier gas. I say the tanker brought in a load of cheaper gas. Not trusting Circle K again. ARCO yes, Circle K no. After fill up at Circle K, I got the super lousy low MPG as you get from cheapie gas stations selling non detergent lower gas. Yet, it was listed as Union 76 detergent gas. Can you trust Circle K gas nowadays? Nope.

I envy newer vehicles with more accurate fuel gauges (digital now). When my 2003 Tacoma needle reaches the 3/4 mark, it means I have about 1.5 gallons left. Not exactly a true representation of having 1/4 of 13.6 gallons.

Mine shows empty if it gets down to around 1/4 tank. I had an SR5 (97 I think) that would show empty at a half a tank. The sending units in these seem to go bad a lot. So far it hasn't been worth draining the tank and changing one out yet lol

Back on topic, I run only ethanol free gas. There are multiple stations here that offer it but it's only 89 octane, used to be a 93 octane station but they closed it down and are remodeling it, not sure for what yet.

Report it to your state's Department of Weights and Measures if you're serious. To me it just sounds like the pump tripped "full" a little early.

I've never had gas differ to the point where I couldn't just blame the traffic, red lights, or my own right foot for an MPG change.

Detergents or top tier vs lower tier don't make a noticable difference in mileage. Weather does make a big difference. It's the time of year where weather is highly variable from week to week.

We don't have Arco stations here...or Circle K. I wonder whose formulation is the same as Arco?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I wonder did you just happen to buy gas right after the station got a drop even though they say it is impossible you still get lots of air mixed into the liquid on the molecular level.

enough you might have bought enough air to effect your mileage .

Case in point you can see a physical difference by sticking the tank. Diesel is even worse.

Try to get Chevron, Shell or Mobil/Exxon. Don't use that Circle K gas. Garbage.

I have Shell in my truck right now. Great MPG's.

Try & run it down to a 1/8th tank, then fill it up with the good stuff :)

So far…. Added fog lights swapped halogens to led’s, interior lights to led’s, bed lights added, led/strobe brake lights, trying to figure out the right leds for turn signals.
What do y’all think about Murphy and BP*? I’ve read they get the fuel from the same depot, add the specified detergent package the distributor requested, and that’s it. And if you look on YouTube almost all fuel delivered is contaminated with water. Just my two cents from a retail worker!

1st generation gas gauges were never intended to be other than a rough indicator of gas in the tank. I’ve always thought Toyota could’ve done better. Just saying that when the needle hits the 1/4 mark, it means I have roughly 1.5 - 2 gallons left. 13.6 capacity.
