When I started this post , the poll was only good for a few weeks .
I will see if we can open the poll back up now .

We dont need to know about the factories sending the trucks to the dealerships low on fluid as we already know from the 2016 thread that they are both making the same mistake

Most of the guys with the 2010 - 2015,s have already done their first and second transmission service . I dont think we are going to see high numbers in this poll compared to the 2016 thread . We tried hard to get the information out there for the 2016 owners .
2010-2015 trucks had massive torque converter failures caused by low fluid . The low fluid issue wasn't caught in time to get the word out .
Regardless , how many trucks are running around low on fluid as we read this ?
This is why you guys need to be happy you joined TW :amen:

Here is a write up for you guys to read if you have a few hours to kill . Its all about the transmission behind your 4 liter trucks . Thats if you havnt already gone through it https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...th-pics-for-second-gen-4-liter-trucks.289913/

And for you 4 speed automatic members , Here is your write up
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...sions-write-up-your-4-speed-automatic.325531/

I might as well add to the list . Your driveline only had assembly lube added to the driveshafts . You need to grease them at every oil change

I will check mine at home. I'm hoping I don't have to check off the "fluid low after dealer said was ok" box in the poll.

Well it looks like they just told me what I wanted to hear. just picked it up and the service report says they checked using tech stream. No mention of doing it manually. Lazy SOBs image.jpg

Keep in mind that dealerships don't get paid jack for doing warranty work. The 0.5 hours that the dealership spent on your issue, in their minds, could have gone towards a more profitable activity like an oil change.

Yep, added a half quart of ATF last month and just added 3-4 pumps of grease in all the grease zerks last night ~9500 miles. Damn you Toyota, I thought I wouldn't have to do a thing but add gasoline on this thing...j/k

I was under the impression that they back charge Toyota for their time on warranty work?

It'll depend on the location but it boils down to the way that the manufacturer states a set number of hours to diagnose a problem under warranty, even if the tech takes more time than that.

@gearcruncher I was looking around, and I think I found a pan with dipstick that might interchange with our non dipstick trans pans.
Is the A750F basically the same trans?
I found a post that says the early models, some had dipsticks!

    http://etereman.com/blog/toyota-tra...automatic-transmissions-and-how-to-avoid-them

The A750F is a 5 speed automatic transmission made for Toyota four wheel drive vehicles. It made its debut in the 2003 4Runner, Land Cruiser, GX 470 and LX 470. These are heavy vehicles and as such are often subject to abuse, such as towing over the manufacturers towing limit. Let’s take a look at some of the common problems associated with this transmission.

    Source: Socaltrucks.com

As is the case with many other makes and models of automatic transmissions, lack of timely scheduled oil changes is a big cause of failure. I recommend that the fluid be changed at least every 25,000 miles, or every 20,000 miles if you tow with your vehicle. If your Toyota transmission has a dipstick, use the Toyota T-IV fluid. If your transmission is sealed and does not have a dipstick, use the Toyota WS fluid. Don’t forget to change the transmission filter with every fluid change.

    - See more at: http://etereman.com/blog/toyota-tra...ns-and-how-to-avoid-them#sthash.3w6SovKD.dpuf

From the underlined above, I assume the earlier trans had a dipstick! :notsure:

2015 Tacoma PreRunner SR5 Access Cab
So I just came back from the dealer to have my transmission fluid level checked, and to have them check torque specs on the drive line U joints since I heard of this as well. I have a 2015 Tacoma Access Cab, 4.0, V6, with tow package. I'm glad I read so many forums about these issues, and went. Looks like they had to put in 1qt of transmission fluid. I'm not 100% sure on the U joints but they said they're now torqued to 65ftlbs; center support bearing to 27ftlbs. I also had them check the driveshaft lube since that needs to be done, or inspected, at oil changes. I'm now at 11900 miles just to let you all know. Hope this helps you guys. Oh, and when I mentioned the issues with transmission fluid levels and U joints, the guy who came out to greet me never heard of any of these issues. He asked his manager and he knew about the low transmission levels for the 2016 Tacoma models, with the V6.

    Tranny fluid used: WS Fluid.
They checked when tranny fluid temp was at 110 degrees.

Do you think the pans could be swapped over to give us a dipstick tube, are the bolt patterns the same?

Something tells me that the dealership is going to round up to the quart when they top off a transmission. I can't see them accounting for inventory at any amount less than a quart so everyone comes out thinking their transmissions are way underfilled from the factory. For the dealership, they may have only topped off 16oz and kept the rest, but will bill Toyota for the full quart bottle on warranty payment.

Did the service receipt say that they used Techstream and pulled the overflow at 110*F? I wonder why they would go a little earlier than the factory spec, which would mean they would have to add more fluid than if they had checked at 125*F or 130*F.

    I agree .
Friends of mine who work at dealerships save the left over fluid and stuff it in their tool boxes to use on there own vehicles . You would be surprised how often this occurs
