    This.

Install is nothing. Tell the seller to knock off $100 and just slap it on your truck. Pick up some beer on the way home and have a buddy come over. Flip it over and install new bedrail gaskets on the bottom and a larger EPDM gasket on the front rail. Flip it over and smack it on.

Sit back and marvel at your accomplishment. Finish whatever beer you have remaining.

The overhang is built in on purpose, helps keep the water out. Nearly all fiberglass leers have it.

Nice! They really do have a lot of advantages. The only drawback is if you need to haul a larger load than you can fit. How often that is should be a determining factor. A small utility trailer makes up for it though.

Me and another member got mine off. It's a little heavier than I expected but not anything two people can't do.

They really are heavy af. I can get mine on/off by myself but its not fun, I have to put my back under it and stand up in the bed, then step out of the bed onto the ground and then stagger up the driveway to put it on some wooden blocks. The worst part is sliding it off the bed rails, I'm always worried about it slipping to the side and scraping the bed or cracking a taillight.

The overhang part is thin and brittle, you will chip it at the corners if you set it down on the ground.

But, if you're planning on leaving it on the truck 99% of the time, Leer really is the best in my opinion

Most topper shops are struggling right now but still open. I know some sales are going on here in Denver & its not super expensive to get it installed properly with the seal. After you buy it - don't be afraid to call some shops & get the seal or let them do it. Esp if your going to sleep in it!

    :threadjacked: Sorry OP.

Well, I've never had to lift one until today. My Tundra cap was installed so.....this one, when I bought it, I met the guy in a parking lot. I backed up to his truck, we both had our tailgates down. He jumped in his truck, bent over and lifted it by himself with his back. He walked backwards to the end of his bed, spun around and walked into my bed. All I did was guide it into place near the cab. He had a Milwaukee M12 ratchet, and 15 minutes later I drove away. Today we just slid it backwards until it started to tilt, and then lifted it off. I had a 30" x 48" folding/extending leg table (the kind you get at the big box stores, Lifetime is the brand name) and we extended the legs all the way, and sat it on top of it. It's about 16" off the ground. It's the perfect height to reach the entire top and I'm going to just sit on a mechanic's stool and wheel around it to reach all the sides.

With the HF bedliner paint I'm using it's minimal prep. It only needs to be roughed up a bit, not sanded smooth. I might even take all the windows out and check the gaskets, and replace the screens with some better insect proof fiberglass screen. Then since I fill the bed with trash bags when I go to the dump, I'm going to add some heavy mesh screen over that to protect it. Or install molle panels over them. I have a new blacked out 3rd brake light for it too. Lastly I'm going to replace the interior lighting with some LED strips that are RGB so if I need to camp in it I can select a anti bug color and dim it.

Once I put it back on I never plan to take it off.

Oh yea, this is the seal I bought to replace what's there.

Just wanted to point out how much the prices on these vary. This is the lowest I've seen for one this nice.

I would never take advantage of someone's misfortune but during these times it's a buyers market.

I can also promise that 2 hours after you install yours, you'll find a better deal. My best advice, don't go looking :D

I guarantee you are right. I looked for about a year and never even found a color matching one. I'm sure a dozen will pop up in the near future lol.

Fantastic! Glad it worked out for you.

Take a pic up close from the side (90°) at the front and the back. It looks a little like it could be slid forward. Of course, what matters the most is how the window in the back fits against the tailgate.

Thanks! There is room for it to slide forward for sure! I have actually been playing with it for awhile now.

The window seems to fit right up against the tailgate but I think that is where it needs the most TLC. The weather stripping probably needs replaced. I'll take some pics next time I have a chance to really mess with it and see what you all think:cheers:

Cool. The better you can get all 4 sides to fit as perfectly as possible the less chance you're going to have of it leaking.
