I have mine under the hood for 2 reasons. 1) there is no driver's side cubby on my 2019. 2) I use mine for my front locker and didn't want a full truck length of hose to get nicked and start leaking.

Much more convenient under the hood for me. Wiring simpler, mounting simple, easier access to air chuck, protected, and closer to front air locker.

I have mine all set up to be put in the cubby and wired to my 2nd Northstar Battery in the bed. I bought the Dust Cover with it as they sold out quickly.

It just has plumbing going to each tire well. You use the quick connects to air up which allows you to do all 4 at once.

    Yup.

Unless I was running an air locker I wouldn't install one fixed on my truck.

I have the same size tire as you, with the arb dual it takes me around 5 minute to go from 12-15ish up to 35ish.

Had the dual with remote chuck on the outside of my 5th gen Runner. Was the best off-road mod next to tires. I will, however, go with the single on my Tacoma. I’m just airing up, so the dual isn’t necessary, imo.

I've put an extremeaire compressor in an Expedition Essentials mount in the rear bed storage, it's really tight but works even with the mobtown covers. And put a 2 gallon air tank under the bed.

I put the 1 gallon ARB tank under the dual with the slee mount. I like how compact it is. Only pain was cutting apart wiring harness to use with switch pro. I scrapped everything but the power, ground, fan ground, and remote power on/off.

I don’t have the driver side rear cubby, so under the hood was the best option for me. I think all brackets whether in the cubby or under the hood cost about the same but electrical wiring seems more simple under the hood.

I love mine and I mounted under the hood because it made sense to run my front locker and after looking at both spots it came down to temp cycles under the hood or a deluge of road/trail debris with the rear bedsides. Now I want to run an airline to the rear of the truck.

@WrecklessAbandon I would also love more information about your regulator set up if you don’t mind sharing.

I think that compressor is this compressor: I have an older version of it and it fills tires pretty quick. I used it on my old full size with 305/70/16s. I'm pretty sure I have seen this compressor sold under several different labels. One HF 20% coupon later you're good to go.

Running a dual under the hood of my 4Runner and a single on my bike.

Having been in situations twice before with air quickly escaping a tire I think any air compressor and plug kit is necessary on any motorized vehicle.
