Nice! How generous of you to give all of your center air duct flow to the passenger :D

I would assume he's relocating them down lower.

RAM articulating cup holder where the stereo face used to be. Just some black ABS material bolted into the faceplate of the new single din chassis. As you can see, screen is up top. Interior is pulled apart right now as I prep to Lizard Skin everything, so there's more clearance than you can see between the cupholder and the front console.

Yeah the pic is a bad angle, kinda exaggerates how much the screen stands up over the front of the hood. When I'm driving it's maybe an inch higher than the front of the hood, and I think that will go away once I put in the new Corbeau seats because they supposedly sit higher than stock. We will see...

I used this universal mount: https://www.bulletpointmountingsolu...versal-dash-mount-phone-holder-multiple-sizes

If you scroll through the pics on the website you'll see it's a two-piece construction: there's an underside "chassis" that connects to the vehicle, and then a topside "plate" that connects to the chassis and you can connect things to the plate.

The chassis has flanges that are somewhat flexible, so they can conform to the curves of the dash. I also went with their smallest option to reduce how much flex was needed. They give you three methods to mount: screws into the dash, pass through threaded inserts, or full on bolt through.

I opted to bolt through the dash which is the most secure connection but it was a PITA. The AC duct is right there, maybe an inch or two of space between the top of the duct and the bottom of the dash, so it took a while to get fingers/pliers in there to hold nuts in place while I passed the bolts through. I ended up only getting three bolts connected - the fourth one is just tightly friction fitted and hasn't budged so I'm not concerned.

Finally I had to drill some holes in the dash to pass cables through, which I did behind the screen. Added a rubber grommet to make the hole look a little nicer and called it a day.

The screen itself came with mounting hardware that I attached to a RAM ball plate, then used a short RAM arm and another ball on the dash. There is an optional extension cable so the screen doesn't have to be co-located with the single din box. I used that extension cable routed through the dash as well.

    I'll grab some pics.

Excuse the plastic everywhere. Here you can see the bullet point mount on the dash and the cables running through behind the screen. Just some old RAM hardware I had laying around and that's all it took.

I like it, would be nice for a tablet mount.

Thanks! I agree, the 7600NEX screen is pretty big/heavy so I think this setup would handle a tablet fine.

I've got a really bad shudder in the truck when I accelerate through 20mph from a standstill (driveline is all outa whack until I get more weight in the back, the rear end is way too lifted currently) and the mount is solid even with the truck shaking like a madman.

The bottom of the screen touches the dash to have it as low as possible. With the shudder, the screen was vibrating/smacking the dash pretty hard so I used a strip of velcro to hold it firmly against the dash. Works great.

Also, bullet point sells their own ball mounts and arms. They are smaller/sleeker than the RAM ones, definitely nicer looking, but I had the RAM stuff laying around so I used RAM instead.

Would you have been able to sit the screen ~1" lower, sitting flush with the tops of the air vents?
And did it come with any din mounted hub or is the stereo completely self contained in the touch screen, is that what you meant by 'co-located with the single din box'?

You could definitely position the screen lower.

The screen is separate from the din mounted hub. It's a single din chassis that installs where the stock stereo goes. Out of the box, the screen is meant to mount directly onto the front of the single din chassis. But if you buy the extension cable you can put the screen wherever you want and plug it into the chassis.

This truck came with a single din stereo and a pocket beneath. I swapped the stock stereo for the Pioneer single din chassis, kept the pocket in place, then ran that extension cable up through the dash to the screen. I searched around for a long time to find a screen that could do this, didn't find much. The Pioneer NEX series seemed to be the best option.

When my interior Lizard Skin project is done and I can remove all the plastic tarps I'll get some good pics of this stuff to better show how the cabling works. I gotta wait for some warmer weather this weekend to do the Lizard Skin, so probably won't get pics till early next week.

This video shows how the whole thing comes together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzldyVg52jo&t=456s

Go to 7:35 to see the extension cable info. I watched that video a hundred times before purchasing to make sure the setup would do what I wanted it to.

Installed a Clarion 1/2 din equalizer with a small Iphone based DAC as the input, alpine sub drives the speakers. Charges my phone as a bonus.

I hate clutter and current stereos are more than I need. I only listen to Pandora and Spotify anyway, so the equalizer is plenty to fiddle with. Sound is amazing, cable routing needs work:p
