I just finished my power door retrofit on my '98 Tacoma. I used OEM door components and door wiring from an '04 Limited and installed them in the '98. Instead of crank windows, manual locks, and ball joint mirrors, it is all now motorized and actuated as it would be on the higher end trim models. It all bolts up perfectly. I created a custom crossover harness to adapt to the complete OEM door harnesses bypassing the integration module and RS3000 security module.

I cut some pigtails of the kick panel connectors so you can unplug the doors OEM style, the control box with the junction blocks and relays are mounted inside a electronic enclosure. A fusebox that fuses the master control switch, mirror hub, lock relays, and window relay are mounted on the front. Also on the front is the aftermarket locking computer that controls the lock actuators. It's all mounted using a piece of flat stock aluminum and affixed to the footwell using an M8 bolt where the clutch pedal assembly would be on a manual vehicle.

    Complete Wiring System

And here's some pictures of the new 2001-2004 door panels versus the 1995-2000 door panels. You will notice that the gray got a lot lighter in 2001 contrasted to the '95-'00 gray.

Check out the entire build thread here.

You will notice I have four switches on my master control switch, even though I only have a two door extended cab. Eventually I plan on utilizing the rear double cab switches to power the rear vent windows using the motorized window linkage that you'd find in minivans like Ford Windstars and Honda Odysseys and adapt it to work with the Tacoma. If I can find an '01 to '04 rear single pane sliding window I plan on motorizing that too using the same gear system that a Honda Ridgeline uses. The second gen guys have successfully done this.

You'll notice the passenger door panel looks a little janky, that is because the door panel I used from the donor truck was damaged from a rollover accident and the 'A' pillar caved in on that door. I had to mix and match some handles and use a paracord handle until I get a new door panel.

You have to take door panels back off anyways for mirror mods.

Added some projector led lights to help add to the grill before I do my satoshi grill. Welded up a small bracket that bolted to the condenser mounting bracket.

Thanks man! Appreciate it. Easily one of the best mods I have ever done for this truck. Using all OEM components, I only paid around $300 for the door components (and complete door harnesses) and $50 for supplies. You can easily do this retrofit for less than that if you hunt around.
