It looks better every time I see it. Did you use a spray gun or a brush?

    Foooooorever.
If I get really motivated next summer I might scruff it up again and have it sprayed to try and fix some stuff.

I don't know if I'll do the same color either....

Yeah that gray looks nice. I'd like to do black, but not impressed with the few i (breifly) looked at in the past.. I need to look into whats involved with getting it done tho. My paint is horrible and need to tackle it before it gets even worse.. Have any links handy for me to look at by chance? Fairly confident its something i can tackle myself. Will probly get a gun. But i assume basic scuffing, lots of masking, spray, maybe a clear coat(if thats doable and what to use?)

It did it myself if you haven the read it in the places I've been hoeing it out to.

It really is that difficult, just time consuming.

It's really pretty straight forward, just sand it all down until the shines gone, wipe it down and hit all the places you missed, there will some. Then wipe it done again.

Take your time taping and if you have the option of spraying it I think it would turn out waaaay better. Maybe even talk to a local body shop and see how much they'd charge to spray it on if you did all the prep including tape. You can even supply the spray gun they suggest for like 50$.

As for color Monstaline has like 40 different options and you can order a chip set for like 8 bucks.

I don't have any links handy, there's a few people that have done it on here.

From what I've read, if you call Magnet Paints they'll answer your questions.

Cool thx m8. Yeah ive browsed thru a few threads in the past. Just have to look again and not be lazy. Ha. But yeah, seems pretty straightforward. Biggest issue i forsee is creating a clean room to work in, but outside. Can probly rig something up as long as any weather doesnt come in.

There's a thread or maybe just a user around here that went with a quicksand color and it looks fantastic.

Haven't seen anybody else with the 3rd gen wheels/tires on their truck yet, so maybe that's unique?

    @SwampYota

    I like yer Box.. !

Gives me some ideas, about building an oversized air box, or scavenge a box from something that feeds a bigger engine like a VHate.

Doing what I can for that extra 1HP for the NA 2.7. :D

Not to discourage you but I can't feel a bit of difference. I've been told regearing or supercharging it are the only real ways to get any sort of noticeable gains.

It looks pretty flipping cool though...

    Its carshow purdy!

I figggures HP gain would be very little, but I'd like a filter with a larger surface area mine gets loaded up with dirt, Or mebby I could chop some of the corner out of the inner fender and weld in some expanded metal up in there.

Better get my grinder, a few beers and some crayons out for this project :)

Nice! Are those the same size as the stock tires?

Yes, those are 265/70/16s. There is a 10mm difference in offset (15 on the stock wheels vs. 25 on the wheels shown), but it's not even noticeable.

Those wheels and tires are the stock setups on the new 2017 TRD models. The tires are GoodYear All-Terrain Adventures with the kevlar reinforcement. Not the tires I wanted, actually, but since they came as a set for only $800 (with the wheels) there was no way to justify passing up the deal. The tires on the truck when I bought it were bald as fuck. I kept the old, stock wheels and I'll put some TA KO2's (or other good snow tire) on them for winter mountain driving in a couple months when the weather turns.

No sir, full lock suspension flexed. No rub at all.

It does look super close to the front fender there, doesn't it? But I've taken it on some moderate off-roading (mostly 4wd creek beds to trailheads) and no rub at all. I drove up onto a high curb when I bought and installed the set and full locked both directions to make sure I wasn't getting any rubbing.

The truck is basically my daily driver (though I ride my bike almost exclusively to get around the city) and a weekend getaway vehicle. I do a lot of hiking and camping and some river sports in the summer and skiing in the winter, so I'm not gonna be doing any harcore wheeling or mudding or anything.

Still, I'm gonna give myself about an inch to 1.5" of lift pretty soon for an extra bit of clearance (thinking OME 880s with 5100s all around). I don't think I'll go any bigger on the tires though.

See I don't understand that... I thought all of the 2nd and 3rd gen wheels would introduce some frame rubbing at full lock - however slight. I didn't have any either and once the alignment was done - poof, rubbing @ full left lock. I'm at stock height as well. *SIGH*

Well, I have to replace my steering rack and bushings since I get a lot of wobble. I did get it aligned before a trip to Moab earlier this year, but they couldn't guarantee it would stay aligned due to the bushings being worn out. The old set of tires wore unevenly, and if I recall correctly it was the front driver's tire that was worn on the inner edge much moreso than the others.

Who knows. When I get the rack and bushings replaced I'll have it aligned again unless I have the money to also do the suspension upgrade I want to do. If so I'll wait til after that. I'll report back when that happens, but it'll be a few months I'm sure.
