My bad, misunderstood your question. 3 screws and two clips to get the center a.c. rack off.

3 screws(two above the cluster) and 4 bolts to get the part under the steering wheel off. The clock piece clicks into place and the key hole light takes a 74 bulb(in my 98), two 74s for the a.c.,one 74 for the ash tray and one for the glove box

4 194s for the gauge cluster, three wire clips on the back of the cluster and one clip for the emergency flasher. It takes some cursing and stretching of the dash to get everything out but it's not bad considering I did the whole procedure twice in a week.

Oh, and tape up the part above your steering wheel with painters tape. Realized I'd scratched it when removing the cluster the third time.

Exactly my issue, my yellow lab makes her home back there. Mine do go forward enough for her, but still a pain in the ass for me.

Yeah, mine were a bitch to mount too. I basically cut the feet off mine and mounted them to the Subaru tracks, but the seats sit too high.

Rather than go to the trouble of cutting and rewelding I'm just going to buy Corbeau seat tracks.

On the 2.4 throttle body there's a tab. If you bent it up you can get 100% throttle.

    I just finished doing this.

I took this overhead console that's designed for an FJ cruiser and chopped it up and drilled some new holes in the brackets it came with. I stuck a BTech UV50x2 in there. There are 4 LED lights...2 in front, 2 in back. The 2 in front each have a switch and the two in the back are on one switch. There's a fourth switch you can use to turn all the lights on. I rewired this switch to operate my front camera. The console has a hinged storage compartment for sunglasses or whatever. I stuck 2 USB ports in there on 12" long wires.

Between the cutting, trimming, figuring out how to mount the radio (velcro), running the wires and more cutting and trimming I think I spent about 12 hours total on this project. Probably a lot more if you add in the research time.

Thanks! I usually take pics but I've been doing a lot of projects lately and just decided to skip pics on this one. There's one on a second gen on expedition portal. I just tried to find it but no luck. I'll look again later and see if I can dig it up.

I've been wanting to do something like this. How is it affixed to the ceiling? What was the extent of the cutting and modifying?

I had to drill new holes into the brackets that came with the console. In the front I used 2 of the stock bolts that hold the mirror/map light assembly onto the ceiling of the truck. I also had to bend the shit out of the front bracket that came with the console. In the rear I didnt need to bend the bracket but I did remove the dome light and drill holes into the sheet metal the dome light screws into. I secured it with sheet metal screws. That's the only drilling into my truck I had to do. The rear didn't come out as well as the front. I still need to do a bit of work on that part.

One of my requirements was that I didn't want to mess up my head liner. Which is kinda funny because I'd drilled all kinda of holes in my truck and welded all kinda of stuff onto it.

EDIT: I forgot to add that my visors are pretty tight against the sides of the console.

That looks great. Would be able to fit OTRATTW switches in there right?

The radio insert size is DIN. You could fit them in there. OR...you could put them into the sunglass holder as well. You'd lose a litte of that sunglass storage area space but whatever.

Edit: I ran the power cables and antenna wire through the passenger A pillar and into the engine compartment using the same hole as the AC drain hole. I feel like you could run a bundle of switch wires through a similar route. There is plenty of space.

I'll take more pictures and add this to my build thread and post the link this weekend.
