    Tiptronic?

So should I be good with any Toyota manufactured steering wheel?

Those up and down gear buttons, the A340 is fully electronic controlled and many people have added a "manual" mode to them so they can control the gear with steering wheel buttons like the sports cars and new tacos have. The original system that I think BMW adopted for steering wheels "paddles" was called TipTronic so lots of people call those gear buttons that. Anywho yeah most any steering wheel from 85-05 should be pretty easy to adapt, right around 05 dual strength airbags and clocksprings that'll never fit in our columns started to pop up. My airbag system must've been faulty or something because mine never went off in the rollover or another crash I was involved in with a boulder haha so I was looking at older wheels at first that never had airbags, love the pickup ones that look like this...

But I like the Lexus one too so IDK maybe I'll hook up the bag maybe not.

Is that the same thing as paddle shifters? My benz has the +- on the shifter itself.

Yeah same concept, the IS300 wheels have down on the face and up on the back so you can shift one handed from either side of the wheel. My old maxima had paddles and I really think it is gimmicky, nothing like a real manual or a manual valve body auto (look that up in your free time, autos that only shift with your input and fully hydraulic control no electronics), kinda a weird limbo mode instead.

@BartMaster1234 This is the wheel I just bought, looks like the cruiser should be cake to adapt if you were curious I'll take pics of the stalk wiring when I gets to me.

No up and down buttons on this one cause it came from a manual car, so I can't provide any pinout on that but I can only imagine it was like every other Toyota switch and had a ground for both switches and a common hot.

I wonder if you could adapt the wheel that the newer Sienna's 4Rs and Tacos came with then, those had stereo controls and the clock spring should work in theory.... Hmmm looks like they have a normal cruise stalk too...

I have been fallowing this thread today, with mild curiosity, wondering where it might go and how much it would cost me! However, if this could happen, I would be selling myself on the street to pay for it.

I know physically that they fit, it is the clock spring and airbag plug that I'm not 100% on. Pretty cheap wheel to get on eBay or from a wrecker to test though if you're up for being a guinea pig.

Ehhhh I'm not too crazy about how it looks, it's too blocky. I really like the Lexus wheel that you have.

I'm curious how hard it would be to swap a Toyota emblem to where the Lexus emblem is. Aren't all the Toyota subsidiary logos the same size and shape?

Im drooling over this 2013 Lexus IS250 steering wheel. It even has paddle shifters.

Probably the two stage airbag though, any idea when Toyota switched from the single stage? '05 right?

Yes and that particular Lexus model was also sold as a Toyota Altezza in Europe and Japan.

Probably not the safest thing in the world but you could always just pick one and use it.

Ehhh if anything I want to retain the airbag. It pains me to see people using racing wheels without airbags.

My cruiser doesn't have bags and the system in my taco is apparently not sensitive enough to actually work haha. But yeah probably smart, I bet there are spec sheets out there for airbags (probably have to be legally) and if you could find them you could match the force and time up. But if you're really into it being safe (which the taco is only kinda safe as it is) you'd wanna leave it alone as these other wheels will have different bag sizes and depths that may not be great for the taco seating position and wheel position.

Your airbag didn't deploy in the rollover right? Aren't airbags only designed to deploy in a front impact?
