If you are looking for a sealed relay setup there are Bosch setups on second gen Chevy Blazers/ GMC Jimmys. On the passenger side firewall in the engine bay. Some have Hella relays.

Did you install these rims? Did they hit the inside? Or did you have to use spacers?
I'm looking at a set but don't want to deal with spacers.

They are still in a box but the backspacing is 4.59”, stock is 4.15” so less than 1/4” difference from stock 2003 wheels. I don’t expect to rub.

Not exact measurements but this was measuring back of wheel to a piece of cardboard laying across it.

Ok cool. I think I read somewhere the difference was .75" but was looking to see if you had them installed to see if there was rubbing, thanks in advance

One of these days. The truck isn’t my daily driver so the current tires have plenty of tread.

The only reason I bought these was some damned thread on here saying they were being discontinued and the eBay seller, a Toyota dealership no less, confirming the same. I had wanted them for a while and didn’t want to miss out.

Apparently that was wrong or Toyota changed their mind.

Edit: my math sucks it’s more than a 1/4” difference but still less than 1/2” from stock.

This was a few years ago, but I cut up an Andorid phone, modified it, and molded into the left AC vent for streaming music/podcast, navigation, and sometimes some Youtube and Mario.

Poor Galaxy Nexus, you're getting retired...

First gen MotoG. Decent performance (at the time), cheap, and easy to modify (both hardware and software). here is it wired up and battery remotely mounted.

    Rebuild the bezel again
    [IMG]

3D printed a better mounting bracket
    [IMG]

Launcher modified, tasks automated, testing to make sure everything works
    [IMG]

Back view, power button relocated to the left side of the bezel, volume buttons hidden above the right vent.

    Final result

Almost all my truck mods are DIY and unique (in a way) because I'm usually too cheap to pay retail or what I want simply isn't available. If there's interest I'll post more, don't wanna feel like spamming this thread.

This is a fantastic idea. The stereos in these trucks sit way too low to have much of a usable screen.

I've seen a video where a guy closed both of the center vents and covered the a.c. controls with a tablet. It looked clean but it's kind of silly to remove the tablet to adjust the a.c.

Thanks! yup having the display up high definitely makes changing songs easier, I did make it so it shows a black blank screen and time after 30 seconds so it won't be distracting when driving at night.

I really wanted a stock, integrated look which is why I went through the trouble building it instead of using a mount. I even kept the stock headunit, opened it and hijecked the CD player audio signal for the phone so everything works seemlessly after I start the truck. :)

we all gotta start somewhere

I built a duct behind so both exits out the right vent. no loss of AC as it's also much needed here in socal.

No it's basically operating indenpendly, the battery relocation is to move it much lower from dashboard next to the foot well so it won't overheat from summer sun.

The only hard connection it has to the truck is audio wired directly into the head unit and power via a 2amp car charger hidden from view. It only charges when the truck is on and that also acts as a "trigger" for condition based automation tasks (tether to my phone for internet, start Spotify and play music, and Waze to check traffic to work/home) so I never have to touch it or manually lunch anything.

One of the automation task is if the truck is off and phone is near low battery (30% or lower, ie. parked for extended amount of time), it would auto shutdown so next time when I drive the truck it would still have plenty of power to turn on and use navigation right away.

I run a tablet in my land cruiser but the automation seems like it would be really nice. Did you have to root the phone to be able to do that?

I used Tasker, it can work without root but having full root (plus a few modules such as Secure Settings) allows tons more very low level functions.

Here's what my automation does on the Nexus 5 I built into my daily driver Fiat 500e (having this on my Tacoma was just too good, I just can't not have it on other cars)

I'd be more than happy to but the Tacoma bezel was hand made with fiberglass and body filler back before I had a 3d printers, the rear bracket I can probably dig up the file somewhere, but it will only fit first gen MotoG

If you're asking about the Fiat one here you go!

No worries, the rear bracket really caught my eye. Thanks for the other link too!

I use Avenza PDF maps on my Iphones a lot when 4x4ing and hunting, mounting my old Iphone5 in/on the dash would be really helpful.
