I think if I wanted to see all the bolt on parts available for a first gen I wouldn’t be in the “unique mod” thread

One of the most unique and coolest retro color schemes I've seen on a first gen:cool:
Makes me think the owner might have some history and appreciation with/for Toyotas :D

In your first pic it looks like the frame plates at the ends of the shock crossmember are diamond shaped. I always learned to do the opposite and fish mouth the ends of the plates to minimize stress put into the frame at the ends of the welds. Not saying one is better but was wondering if you had a reason for the way you did it? I like the beefy shock mounts!

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I did the same radius to match the tube cross member. The radius was done so I could get the mounts to sit up farther on top of the cross member. AND set them at a more neutral angle to the shock. Here's a picture that might show it better.

    20200721_112528.jpg 20200721_172023.jpg

Also... by doing the radius, where I did it, there is almost double the amount of weld join as if I just did a straight on fish mouth cut like ) and mounted it that way. A straight ) cut would not have allowed me to get the mount high enough AND at the right angle.

I would love to get rid of my double cab for an access cab 1st gen taco or tundra and do exactly that. Have a nice sleeping setup and a decent amount of head room..... I miss my "long bed" this short bed blows lol
    That's neat

depends what your needs are, Im always on my own, no kids, so a single cab is great, i prefer single cabs as they can maueber better, in my future ill probbly get a tundra v8 with a 4 wheel camper of i ever outgrow this

My needs have been shifting recently. I'm on my own, occasional lady. Single cabs are coo but I'm 6'2 and would like more room, plus I loved my access cab for storing things in the back half of the cab. A simple camper shell would work for me probably, a flippac would be neat though, just need the length overall. Someone traded in a 01 tundra access cab 4x4 with 80k miles.... still kicking myself that my coworker beat me to it

Hell to the yeah, I love dirtbag camping. Though I don't need to do any covert camping, my setup is equally as unfit for instagram. Just a sleeping bag, foam pad, dry box, cooler and small camp chair. Takes a whole 30 seconds to set up for the night. I love my regular cab so much, it's like a side by side ATV with sleeping quarters.

Throw a box in that bed! This took me about 2 hours to make and the drawer is a totally separate piece, so I can load and unload it in about 5 mins. Perfect for getting out on a weekend but still using my truck for truck stuff during the week.

My dream truck is to find a 2005-6 single cab v8 tundra. They’re getting rarer and rarer and going for 15-16k! I would trade my truck for one in a heartbeat.
