3" lift kit. 17" wheels and tires, custom grill, full technology package, Early model running boards, Push bar.
MY current 17" wheels and tires are around 31" in diameter. I am looking to go to 33" tires on 17" wheels with BF Goodrich tires like many have.
When I look at my set up now, it looks like adding 2" to the overall tire diameter or 1" on each fender well side, would easily fit. However, all of the videos I have seen on YT with professional shops show come minor cutting and trimming of the fender well when using 33's.
    I have a 3" lift.
Any ideas on this? I do NOT wish to cut any metal.

All depends on your offset of your wheels.

You already have the lift. Go to the tire shop and get them to test fit a set.

not sure they will do that. You would have to mount them and all that jazz.
A 33" tire is only 2" larger than my current set up, seems weird to me because when I look at it from every angle, it appears there is way more than 1" clearance in all directions. I just don't understand why anyone would need to cut metal if they have a lift.
By the way, I will check to see what my wheel offset is, think these wheels came off of an FJ Cruiser but I also have wheel spacers on my wheels.

If they won’t you’re going to the wrong tire shop. But I’ll do you one better. Many tire manufacturers offer a 30-45 day satisfaction guarantee. So you could even try them out for a while and if you don’t like them go back for a different size or tire. Read the fine print first, it’s probably an exchange not a refund.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
So you want to go to 285 75 17?

You say you have a lift? Ok. Does that lift include aftermarket UCAs? You can have the aligment shop mess with your caster to improve your chances in not having to cut. But its just a cab mount. You shouldnt need fenders cut unless you have ridiculas offset.

As an example, i had to trim, and still am tweaking what im trimming, but i have 16×8 wheels, with 3.5 back spacing, and -25 offset iirc. I also have 315s so i absolutley needed to cut

Hey guys, revisiting this thread. Let me break this down and make it simpler. I have new tires and wheels, 285/70-17. 8" wide wheels not sure about offset. question is, do I need to cut out the fender wells?

People have told you what info is needed to answer your question. If you dont know the wheel specs you need to find it out or at least state what the wheels are/from and someone may know the answer. No one can tell you without knowing wheel specs and if your running a spacer then size of that. Typically no fender trimming i needed for 285's. A CMC will likely be needed.

Lift only provides clearance at ride height. If your planning on off-roading you will rub for sure at some point. You will need to do some “work” or cutting to avoid these issues when fully flexed.
Like others have said a CMC is usually the first place to start, also the pinch weld often needs “messaging” and the plastic fender well.
It’s definitely a rabbit hole, but in order to truly fit larger tires and have the same articulation, it’s a necessity.
If you have adjustable UCAs and the right rims maybe you can get away without ALL the trimming but my guess is some amount will be required.
