That must be the OR with the external resivor shock. I wonder if Toyota has done any improvements with their corrosion protection. That fancy 4 link isn't going to look good covered in rust. Can't fault the auto industry for road salt and brine applications, but I don't want to buy something that will rust prematurely.

Think you’re right. Little Bilstein logo there. Looks about 5160 grade.

Yup, that's a 5 link. They should have had this ages ago, the 4Runner has it with its solid axle.

Probably won’t be worse than the 1G and 2G Tacomas we already bought

this is what i love about toyota the most. re-use of the same old functional designs. it means that before the truck even exists, there's a healthy aftermarket ready to go!

They should have done it awhile ago, I suggested it years ago and was ridiculed. It is a lifestyle truck, at least make it ride nice.

    sentiments change, i guess.

i recall a number of years ago, ram/dodge were rumored to change to coil rear springs. it was a fiasco of people complaining that they'll never buy another dodge product, and it'll never be have more than 200 pounds of towing capability..

personally, i've been looking to convert leaf springs to a 4-link airbag setup for about the last 6 years now...

    They do.

I remember that, and then people realized how much better the ride is. Don’t the 4Runner/80 series have a better payload than the Tacomas?

Used to be into the desert Prerunner stuff when I lived in AZ, was going to link my 1st Gen, but then I moved to Idaho and lost interest.

They do. The 4Runner has a higher payload while also being heavier than the Tacoma's.

While the arrangement is similar, the TNGA platform is all-new, so I would expect parts to be just slightly different enough that 4th/5th gen 4Runner suspension parts won't be interchangeable with 4th gen Tacoma.
