Just read the article. At least the oil changes are easy on the Tacoma.

Just goes in line with the long line of things manufacturers do in an effort to force customers to a dealership. I've honestly never seen a manufacturer make it that much more complex, I'd assume it will add labor costs (which will piss off the non diy-crowd too).

I'm glad the change is super easy on the 2nd gen. 15 minutes and a beer, all done.

More than likely people will be doing oil changes without having to remove the wheel. You know how many panels and things I removed over the years where I would of had to remove the entire console or dash just to take a trim piece off or remove a module or unplug a harness. I always live by the logic to work smarter not harder. Usually always some type of shortcut you can take.

Also why companies and people design speciality tools. To make doing things easier then they were designed.

Lol. Atleast they probably won’t cry about it like the person who is writing this article. Wahhhhhh I gotta remove a tire once every 10k (when I should remove them to rotate them anyway) just to change the oil.

The 3rd gen oil change is also more of a pain than the 2nd gen.

Removing the wheel and removing 3 panels is no problem. With an electric impact, I can pull the wheel faster than I can pull my... well, you know.

Rotating the tires would make that a much easier pill to swallow.
