Seriously though. I'm curious to know what experienced people would spend their money on if they could do it again. Also I think it would be helpful for people who are trying to do an expo build like this to know what is most important and what they should spend money on. You can so easily throw $10k at a truck and still be wanting. I loved my first truck but was so happy when I got to do it over again with TUROK. I was looking through KRULL's build today. Made some pretty big mistakes hahaha. I think I'm finally at a stopping point with my truck and enjoy using it for adventures all the time.

Hard to say. I have changed things alot on my current truck because I bought what I could at the time instead of waiting and saving more money.

With my truck I bought OME suspension because it fit my budget but I just ended up swapping it out for king suspension later which I am extremely happy with. I also bought a used shell that fit my budget and ended up swapping it out for one with windoors which I need for the way I use the truck.

If I was allowed to wait and save more money I would get the following:

    Shell with windoors - $2000
Larger, Better Tires and Wheels - $1600
    Suspension - $3400
    Roof Racks - $1000

If I could only spend $5k and never had another chance to mod I would get:

Used shell with no windoors - $800
    Roof Racks - $1000
    Better Tires - $800
    Hidden Winch Mount - $500
    Winch - $800
    Rear Leaf Pack - $400
    Weathertech Floormats - $100
    Sliders - $600

I love my truck as is currently and the only thing I really can see wanting at this point is more power. I will probably never spend the money for a supercharger though. When this truck wears out though I will definitely consider a tundra.

Suspension is a big key. I'm glad I got the suspension I did the first go around. There is so much that I'm sure others would want to change a 2nd go around

Great Answer!!! So no front suspension huh? I definitely have a lot vested in racks and the shell. Thats $3600 alone. In hindsight i prob should have done some prinsu racks. Hidden winch mount is an interesting choice. I think you could swing a front bumper for $600 or so. Ive never had a winch before.

    I would be pretty similar:

    Used shell - $800
    Roof Racks - $1000
    Better Tires - $800
OME or Bilstein lift kit - $1200
    Weathertech Floormats - $100
    Bed platform/drawer - $200
    Front bumper- $600
    CB - $150
    Full size Spare - $150

Yeah suspension is big. Having King suspension now though I would never go back to OME. My experience with the OME suspension wasn't good. Except the dakar leafs. Those are great. The shocks though are not paired well for the springs and the coil options never seemed to work with my weight needs up front.

Yeah, I like my front bumper and it is nice to have but it was close to $1000 all coated. A hidden winch mount is much lighter and I could sneak by without the new suspension up front.

Maybe sneak in some adjustable 5100s in the front just to get a bigger tire under there easier. I won't tell you went a little over budget :spy:

I didn't have a great experience with OME either. I've never had the nicer suspension nor have I riden in a truck with the nicer stuff so I will just live blissfully ignorant to what I'm missing haha. I've also see some guys do some great diy stuff if you were really in a pinch. Also browsing the used section on TW can save you a ton too. Just have to be patient and know what you are looking for ya know. It was well worth the investment for me. I know I'll be in this truck for quite a while and it has served me well.

I have one that is 90% welded uncoated sitting at my dad's house. It has a defect in the tubing where the bends are slightly off. You can't tell by looking at it and it doesn't affect the overall geometry. PM me if you are interested.

    This build needs some updates.

I got some new tierods. My inner ends were going out and I happened to snag these on sale on Amazon for a good price. I know that heavy duty tierods are a debatable upgrade because the forces then go into the steering rack. I don't rock crawl a lot and mainly like to cruise washboard roads and mild offroad trails. Those trails tend to exert more of vibration type forces on parts which I imagine was the cause of the loose inner tie rods. The heim joints on these should be much better. Time will tell.

And yes, I do have icon boots on my king shocks.

I added some ditch lights to my CBI brackets that have been empty for some time. I sell Heretic lights and had never tried out their pods for myself. Just 20 and 30" bars. I like to thoroughly use all the products I sell so I can understand them and help customers. So far the pods are great.

I finally got some decent rear shocks in the rear. Ended up bailing on the shock relocation and just went with the stock length 2.5" kings with the longer rod end to work better with the Dakars. The travel isn't much, roughly 8.5" but it is maximized right now. I got the compression adjusters which have been nice.

On occasion I overload the bed with aluminum extrusion for roof racks and being able to instantly stiffen the compression and dampening is nice. It definitely is noticeable.

Bed Storage- Up until a month ago my bed of my truck was used for something different everyday. One day it was loaded with camping, the next with groceries, and the next with aluminum for roof racks. I have since built a trailer that will take on the hauling duties for long camping trips and for the business. The bed of the truck will still have minor duties but will be kitted out for day trips so we can leave at a moments notice. I had a smaller goose gear module before that I mounted to my bedslide but I wanted to get a full length drawer to get it lower and make the bedslide half width. I am also replacing the wood deck on the bedslide with an aluminum one. It will be about an 1" lower profile and be a little more sturdy.
