    Hey Everybody,

Do Zerk fittings go bad? I noticed some of them on my old 99 Tacoma are not accepting grease anymore.

    Take it easy,
    Paul

Uncommon yet, easy to replace. What are you greasing? Have you checked to see if the part is good? Maybe that's the issue.

A few times in the past, most of the grease oozed out between the zerk and the gun fitting, so I replaced them. Not sure why they go bad though, because I always wipe them down before greasing them.

Try adjusting the tip on your grease gun, there's a separation on the tip and the base of the tip, try tighten it a little bit, might be hard to get on the fitting, if so then you got it to tight on the adjustment. Also make sure the tip is square to the fitting.

Ya that happens. Push the ball valve on the zerk with a small nail or something to make sure it's not stuck. Hold the grease gun tip with your hand and apply pressure. Keep it square to the zerk fitting and pump fast to force the grease in quickly. It still may ooze around the edges, but you'll get some in too. And wipe it clean before so no dirt or grit gets in there.
