    Yup.

Just as the title says it.

Started last week while my pops was borrowing my truck. He mentioned to me that while driving at constant highway speeds the following happened:

    RPM reading dropped to zero.
    Temperature reading dropped to zero.
    ABS light is on.
TRAC light is on (truck with squiggly lines below it).

I asked him if it was raining or if he was driving fast in any type of slippery condition and he said no.

I really don't drive the Tacoma as much, but I decided to drive it to work this week and see if I could replicate the issue.

    I recorded this:

    https://youtu.be/YtLaSXBM_bc

I apologize for the camera being sideways. The only way I could record this was while I was driving and I did so in the "safest" manner.

I searched on TW and only found issues with the ABS + TRAC lights kicking on randomly while driving, but nothing that had the RPMs and Temp gauge drop to zero.

    Any thoughts?

A couple of miles down the road I decide to pull over and see what happens, gauges resumed normal operation but lights remained on.

oh, and the truck is perfectly stock with the only thing I did to it was relocate the smog pump (secondary air injection pump, whatever you call it)

Since you got it well documented, seems like warranty time.

I know it has warranty, and I will take it to the dealer.

I would like to see what everyone thinks the issue is, and I am starting a thread for anyone that has an issue on this in the future.

Don't happen to have anything plugged into the OBD2 do you? I had to trickle charge my truck 6 weeks ago. Once she started I was down the road going 40mph or so when my dash lit up like a Christmas tree and my gauges went to zero (except speedometer). I pulled over and unplugged, and plugged in my UG and everything was fine. Haven't had any problems since.

i doubt the cold had anything to do with it. Tacoma spends most of its time under a cover since I mainly drive the Camry for work and a 3rd gen 4runner for trail rides

The UG is plugged in, but the screen doesn't read any gauges. It continously reads "searching gauges" or "scanning gauges" something like that.

It does that because I didnt set up the UG properly when i transferred it from the 2013 Tacoma to the 2015 Tacoma.

Ill have to unplug it and drive it like this for a couple of days and see what it does...

Try running with it unplugged from the OBD2 port and see if you experience any issues with the gauges?

    :notsure:

Speedo, tac, voltage, and lights that is.

Had a similar problem with my 2015 due to the UG...... It was unplugged during an alignment and not re-installed properly. Caused the TRAC + VSC + ABS lights to illuminate while driving, but the UG went blank. Problem solved after I removed, then re-installed the UG plug into the OBD port. Been good for almost 4k miles now......

Well, looks like it was the UG.

I've had it disconnected and no issues at all.

Saves a trip to the dealer.

Good to hear this solved your issue. You should be fine with plugging it back in. If it's not seeded properly it can cause some funny business. Maybe your Dad hit it with his knee or leg while entering/exiting the vehicle.
