I spray the entire bottom of the truck with CRC, I'm not going to go around those areas that get POR-15 spot treatment and not hit them.

When I said, "reapply CRC", that's just going back to my normal routine.

Originally I planned on applying POR-15 to the frame, but now I'm leaning towards Fluid Film once or twice per year. Lowes carries if for $9.99 per can. From what I've read 2-3 cans is plenty. $20-$30 per year sounds like the way to go.

The question is how hard is it to clean off the fluid film when you're ready to reapply? Does dirt stick to it really bad? Stuff like that.

From what I read, it's lanolin based which means it should not attract dirt and is environmentally friendly. Just a washing should be fine to remove dirt and spray. Any accumulated FF should just add to the protection. I would think Once a year in the fall should be fine. I would not spray it inside body panels as it may clog drain holes.

Did not notice scratches, but was taken off guard by the orange dust. This Sunday I am going to try and return to take some pics and also stop to look under one of the twins. Dealers are not allowed to work on Sunday in iowa.

A reminder. Toyota has been advertising that the steel in the frame is hardened. This does not guarantee it is rust proof but just like the hardened nuts and bolts are more rust resistant over time, it means the frame should be. IMHO, it was as much the rust problem that they are doing this.

One good way to tell....get a " friends" 2015, and test drill a hole in each...:laser:

Read the post. I have to disagree with using used motor oil. It is steeped with carcinogens and has little value over biodegradable G-green oil in rust prevention. There are other safer oils like linseed oil. Plus, used oil is no longer an insulator and can enhance rust as well. It will also more readily conduct electricity ( electrolyte unlike clean motor oil) with possible water and contaminants mixed in. I fear also contaminants can degrade rubber parts and cause more wear then unused oil. I tried it once and it kept clogging the tip of my sprayer....I stopped using it immediately after a little research.

So if I go with fluid film... It sounds like there's nothing I can hurt underneath the truck. I can coat 100% of the undercarriage.

Seems easy enough! Thanks for all the tips/help...

I hear you and you are right I am sure...but even mentioning it means someone might consider it. I'm just an environmental "weener". This stuff is really, really toxic and one of he big reasons we have extended oil change intervals....just mention grease ( bio good ) and just paint paint it on with a foam brush...
