I mean yeah, unless it hit the tree. The tree would have totally slowed it down from atmosphereic reentry.

The dinosaurs just needed more trees.

At terminal velocity it leaves a dent in the tree bark. At 17,000 MPH it blows the tree in half and smokes the Tacoma like a small cruise missile.

It appears, after enhancing, that the lack of crystalline hemomicrotopography, it is, in fact, a Pumice stone. From the direction of entry in relation to Arcturus, it likely originated from planet LV-426.

    Christ. Not another bug hunt.

Considering how easily these windshields have been cracking at pebbles being kicked up by cars, I could see a bad storm possibly kicking up a loose rock like that with a strong wind gust. Of course, vandalism is also a possibility, were anyone else's vehicles damaged with rocks?

Lick it to see if it's a frozen poo dropped from a commercial airliner.

ymmv, but it looks like rock fragments on the hood from the initial impact to the left of the rock. the rock that went thru looks to be the secondary impact due to the impact round circle extending toward the rock stuck in the glass. its just weird how the rock is perfectly stuck into that glass and the angle looks to be from higher skyward. if someone was throwing it i would think the angle would be more horizontal entry.

    • similar incident about a mile away last night
    • that was on a ford f-150, so at least it's not a toyota hater

    • hood was damaged on the rebound of that portion of the rock
    • again, it DUMPED here last night
    • very weird and
    • major bummer
any further updates on this and i'll let you inmates know.

Was it wet inside the truck?
Do you live on a gravel road in which your truck is parked on?

well, now that i'm fully in the vandalism paradigm, and dealing with the fallout from that, i'm...
    1. embarrassed, really, to have ever seriously considering it was anything else
    2. grateful for and amused by the collective wit & wisdom this thread generated
    3. and truly surprised that this assault on the front windshield didn't set off the alarm
anyone here have any insight on #3?

Does your truck have the glass breakage detectors? Mine doesn't.

the factory alarm doesnt include glass breakage sensor. you have to order the optional alarm package to get that sensor.
