I'm thinking he wants a shot at the Gov a little more than he wants to kill Rick

 

Not sold on this - moreso on what jhodge said...I hope it isn't the case as I like Merle, but can't help but think that he and gov have something cooked up...after all, why would he press Michone so hard on getting back to woodbury? But, I may be wrong...

 

Back on the subject of Andrea knowing about Shane and Lori, It was when everyone was looking with Sophia and they were at the church. Andrea overheard the two talking and after when Shane said he would leave, thats when Andrea said she wanted to go with him. I don't remember if Lori told her that it might be Shanes at the farm or not.

Ya, this^^^^ I think above all, Merle is loyal to his brother and could pretty much care less about the others. So the fact that the Gov wanted him to kill his brother? Ya he prob wants to be the first to put one in the Gov's head...

 

Maybe so, but then again...

 

I think this. Merle said that he was close to killing himself when the Gov found him, plus he was out on his own for a while, and latched onto whatever would keep him a live and filled whatever role to ensure that. Not saying he's an angel that played bad to earn his keep at Woodbury, but He wants to stay with Daryl, and Daryl wants to stay at the Prison, so by association Merle is going to mind his Ps and Qs.

As for wanting a chance at the Gov. Merle was made to be a traitor that brought the Prison group there to kill all of them, everyone he was trying to protect and live with turned on him, and he was going to have to either be killed by, or kill his brother.

I'd be pissed too.

 

Maybe so...and hopefully so...but there is still this nagging feeling that something isn't right...

What I'm suggesting is that the entire Brother Vs. Brother thing was the beginning of the setup. Merle was prepared to fight his way out WITH his brother before the bullets and smoke grenades started flying. Maybe the Governor's plan was to let them escape anyway?

Far fetched, and pretty unlikely at this point... but certainly plausible. There has to be an explanation to how the Governor knew about the Morgan gun run... and spies from the woods aint it... just say'n.

So how exactly is mole Merle communicating with the Gov ?

 

Merle is not a mole he just cares about him and Daryl

 

Any number of ways... Since the show doesn't show everything (think Andrea setting up the meeting), it didnt have to show it. Someone told the gov about the guns, so the only two options are Andrea and Merle unless Glen was up to no good when he was supposedly checking out the other side of the prison. So, who was it? Unless it was a big screw up by the writers.

 

Don't be so sure about that...
