Well, I know a lever action 30-30 can kill at 200 yards, because I've done it. Multiple times.

I actually just started watching the show in August. My son had been telling me for the past couple of years that I'd like it. So one weekend I bought the DVDs of the first season and had myself a little marathon. Well, I wound up watching the 1st 3 seasons in a 2 week span. Finished just in time catch the 4th season broadcast. Now I'm going into withdrawal waiting for it to resume in February. Now I've started watching Talking Dead. Adm was on the first episode I watched. Sounded like a fan and also like he would be doing a show about Walking Dead.

I am not a tank expert, but that is the M-60 or earlier M-48. Either way, they haven't been used in active service for well over 20 years. But I digress, I do not know enough about them to know if they were auto-loaders or manual. ...

Guys, it's a tv show! They're in full production on the fly trying to get story lines in, etc. If you want full accuracy we're probably talking about a total 4-5 hour show for just one year....which would you rather have....some missed inaccurate technical details or more shows? (remember the days of action heroes shooting thousands of rounds without ever reloading?) lol

But to answer a couple questions....since this has already been addressed earlier in the threads...it's an earlier variant of the M60 (cause I was with a tank battalion at one time in my life) and it was still in use up until the early 90's. A grenade would not damage the barrel or breach unless it was open as previously stated (very slim chance) and then it would kill or mame the people inside (let's just go with it was open for argument sake). And for the lever action whether it was pistol or rifle cartridge....if you've been shooting/hunting/military/etc you would know that a 100-150 yard shot is not difficult to do with a long barrel setup. The M16/M4 is shot at 500 yards iron sights in the prone position for qualification in the Corps at a B mod target (which is a waist up silohouette of a person). The 5.56/223 caliber is a tumbling round...it's very small...it bounces around once it hits a person and does penetrate (I'm sure many can attest to this), while it's hard to believe a zombie can stop this....(as daryl uses it as a shield) I prefer to ignore reality and believe that it saves him cause I'd freak the hell out if he was killed!!! Again...it's a show!

^This. I do tend to get caught up in the little things, sometimes. It's my favorite show and has been that way since the beginning. Even though it's a show about zombies - something as which all of us agree couldn't ever happen - I think everyone wants a little more realism in the things that are real.

It's like every other movie made before. Drama and visual screen action is the goal far above sticking even close to technical accuracy on everything.

How many hundreds of times have you seen a character with a semi-auto handgun run out of ammo then continue to click the trigger several times until they realizes it's empty?

NONE of them can do that in reality. Maximum of one click on the empty chamber then the hammer will not cock again without manually doing it. Most semi-autos, the action is even supposed to lock back in the open position after the last spent shell get's ejected.

I don't know that zombies are not real, ever look around you at people so into their cell phones they walk right out into traffic, hit doors and bump people? To bad we can't shoot them in the head!

Some semi autos(my beretta m9) have double action/single action triggers. If the slide were to not lock back you could pull that trigger and click all day
