I figured that the bat to the back of the head was to harm the brain and the cutting was to let them bleed out.

I was thinking the same , wouldn't be the first time a walker was bludgeoned to death

It's a zombie show. From the beginning the time it takes to turn (Andreas Sister) as the show/movie progresses is dramatically faster. By now a scratch and you're zombiefied in about 30s.

The bat to the back of the head could have been more about killing them and not just knocking them unconscious. A hit that hard would cause brain damage, "killing two birds with one....bat".

I think he was bit. He limped out of the church after kissing Sasha, and then limped to the tree from a sitting position and started to cry, that's when he was grabbed.

That was season 2. Most zombie moves the change happens much quicker as the show progresses.

I think the turning is subject to be whatever is convenient for the show at the time :notsure:

However we know next to nothing about how bites and scratches affect the body or the turning process itself. It could be location sensitive.

It seems like with the amount of variables, they can write any amount of time to turn they want.

    We've had this discussion before.

    And I'll stick to this:

When Shane was killed there was a fade to black, then a fade back in to him reanimating. Creating an unknown amount of time from death to zombie. But that was a while. If I remember right, Carl heard the gun shot, wandered out of the house, and then arrived to see Shane reanimate, so it atleast took the amount of time it took Carl to make it across the field. Now was Carl running or walking? Did he take a few minutes to sneak a peek of Beth in the bathroom and call him mom a twat on the way out?

I agree, I don't even know if the writers even have thought about it to that extent. I mean they had scenes with bent barrels on rifles before.

I'm sure the mullet guy has it figured out though!;)

Didnt take long to Hershel to turn , on the heat of battle.

Michonne does this before leaving the prison. So must be different times when a person turns to a walker.

Most , if not all have to die first, then reanimate. Bob's bite needs to make him sick, then die before he turns.

Didn't they find out at the cdc everyone is already infected. You die then come back unless the brain is destroyed. A bite causes severe infection then death.

Hershel was pretty much dead when his head left his neck...
Thus the shorter than usual turn time.

Jenner said reanimation can be from minutes to 36 hours IIRC

I don't think they worry about scratches or getting dead flesh on them anymore since they know they're all infected anyway.
I think for bites the only ground rule Kirkman has established is that they're a lot more serious (since it's dead flesh and the zombie's mouth are filthy) so the bite gets infected very quickly, you go septic, and it kills you since most likely you don't have the proper medicine on you to treat it. As far as turning, I remember Kirkman saying that it just depends on each person how long it takes.

It all depends on the person's daily vitamin intake. If they've been eating a flintstone everyday their body can fight off the infection longer.
