I am into the third book of the Trudge series, In Harm's Way, by Shawn Chesser. The series has been great so far and I breezed through the first two books thanks to the good writing of Chesser. The story revolves around a retired Delta Force operator in Oregon. His wife and daughter fly back east to visit her parents, and the very next day the Omega outbreak hits the US.

The story follows Cade Greyson as he figures out what's going on and goes on a journey across the US to find his wife and daughter. Obviously, there are exploits on the way, but the writer does a great job of describing post apocalyptic US, and the power grab by those in high places, as well as those civilian anarchists.

The first book was on $1 on Kindle, with the second and third books being $3. Well worth the price!

The Remaining series (1-3) by D,J, Molles have been real good so far. Not Zombies, per se, but infection that turns the living into zombie-like creatures. Very 28 Days Later/Rage. Waiting on book 4 to come out.

Zombie, Illinois and Zombie, Ohio By Scott Kenemore - Both real good too.

Zombie, Ohio was written from the perspective of a zombie who for some reason remains aware of who he is and his situation after he's dead. Real different perspective and a very cool read. Highly recommend.

Zombie, Illinois is great in that Kenemore has a real grasp if how the neighborhoods and local politics are (I'm from Chicago) and how even during the rising of the dead how shady polititicians are fighting for power and trying to save their own skin. Really hit home for me.

Updating my list to bump the topic . . .

I finished the Walking Dead Compendium One, which is the first 40 or so comic books in one book. Admittedly not a comic book guy, I enjoyed it. I'm not going to get the next one until the show is further along, as I'd rather experience the show with less knowledge. The comics are pretty brutal. The illustrations were terrific.

I also just finished Rise Of The Governor, which is his backstory. Book form, in contrast to the comics. Was also good. Unsettling. Very different experiences seeing the show versus the comic book panes versus reading book descriptions.

Just started Road To Woodbury. Seems a little lighter in terms of the story itself. Am liking it so far.

Very cool darrmill, thanks for contributing. So the Rise of the Governor and Road to Woodbury are in novel format? That is interesting, I didn't know that.

I just finished book 3 of this series Kilted. Man, this series has just gotten better with each book. I really dug the new revelations of the infected and the added drama surrounding Lee. I can't wait for the fourth book to come out!! The way book 3 ended, seems like we could be set up for another 3 books. There is still a lot of this story left to tell.

I just started reading After the End, and will follow it with the sequel Dead Country. Both written by Bonnie Dee and are actually really good. I have seen some mediocre reviews for both, but I enjoyed them a lot. They are probably within my top ten for sure, which says a lot as I have over 60 zombie novels on my Kindle. :D

If you happen to look up the author Bonnie Dee, you will find out that her zombie novels were a part time thing. Her full time writing gig is romance novels.

Yeah, it's called Shattered Hourglass... It gets away from the journal-type entries, but there are a few scattered throughout. Definitely a good read.

Oh, nice! So he evolved his writing a bit huh? That's good to see. His first two books were excellent, and you could tell the writing was better in the second. I can't wait to pick this up!

Yes, his writing has definitely evolved for the better. There are some small spots that lagged, but overall I like the way the book and story progressed.
