If they are not exposed to sunlight, they will be a darker color of "cold" than everything around them that was exposed to sunlight, at least at dusk and for a while there after.

Most thermal-imaging devices scan at a rate of 30 times per second. They can sense temperatures ranging from -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees Celsius) to 3,600 F (2,000 C), and can normally detect changes in temperature of about 0.4 F (0.2 C).

And when something moves, even as small as a ball bouncing, the energy inside the ball causes heat. The movement causes the molecules inside the ball to speed up which will cause heat. So even though a zombie is technically dead the movement of molecules inside his/her/its body will cause heat. The ball is not a living thing either but it can still cause heat.
Just my opinion with 3 minutes of google research

    side note:
For this we added the Thermal-Eye X-50 Thermal Imaging Camera. As we all know, rising from the grave expels most of the heat from a zombie, leaving behind only faint warmth in the lower extremities. So if you view a stumbling figure with warm feet and a cold head, you know to take the shot. Just as the 5.11 Tactical Watch lets you calculate elevation compensation for long shots, the thermal imager helps you shoot with the confidence, knowing you're only going to re-kill the undead.

I think some friction would cause warmth in the body but not much.. Maybe just enough to tell if it's alive or dead through a thermal site. I bet they'd had to be walking/running for a while though before it would even appear. Same goes for the feet. Although they (assuming) drag their feet a lot would cause more friction. I still don't think it would be enough to determine a "kill" shot. Like said before, can't go wrong with a good 'ol iron site!

btw, when is Top Shot gonna come out with a Zombie Sniper School series? We gotta get some zombies first. Who's up for the t-virus?? Not it
