My thoughts, Orange. Blue is second gen, even if it's not the same colour, it's close enough. There's lots of speedway blues out there and if I was dropping cash on a nice paint job, I'd do something different, hence the orange. The olive is nice too, but as mentioned already, you don't drive a JK. :)

Decals on the truck = rice in my opinion. Leave the car tattoos to the import scene that is heavily influenced by the Fast and the Furious and keep the truck in it's present glory.

Long time lurker and you've got the nicest first gen on the form (IMO), just thought I'd chime in!

So the latest thought on color is to try sunset orange or firebelly orange plastidip.

This is firebelly orange. Sunset orange is a little lighter, more yellow.

What's that supposed to mean? Plastidip won't screw anthing up and I can remove it. I'm also talking to a buddy that does vinyl wraps to get a quote on that too.

I dunno, ive just never been a fan of plasti dipping an entire vehicle. It was the biggest joke when it first came out, now everyone is doing it. Guess its cool because you can peel it off, but seems like the cheap approach.

well you're right. It's cheaper than a real paint job that's for sure. Part of the reason that it makes sense on a trail rig. Spending good money on a nice paint job only to get drag it over rocks and trees doesn't make a ton of sense unless you've got more money than sense.

Also, you can get a pretty nice finish from the plastidip of you use a "pro" type sprayer, not the rattle cans.

Also, with a unique color like orange, if I ever decided to sell the truck it would be a much smaller customer group interested in driving an orange truck. But if I can peel it off and have it be a color more people are ok with, then I'll have better luck.

It's most definitely not a final decision, still just daydreaming.

so if you drag a branch over a body panel and get a big ol tear in the plasti dip how ease it to fix and paint back over and look good? Thats the one think about dipping a vehicle I havent really seen an answer to. Can you just spray over the part that tore again and it well blend together?

I've torn up my derped wheels and fixing them is pretty easy. I cut off the loose/peeled derp and spray that spot. It blends pretty well on my wheels

I think it's a good idea. The bigger areas I've dipped are my front and rear bumpers. They have both held up really well, even after going through brush and tree branches. If a scratch does happen just peel that section and re-spray it. I'm actually thinking about plasti dipping my rocker panels. I like the look on other trucks, but if I don't end up liking it then ill just peel it right off. I love this stuff

    ...too much shit to list.
It's even easier than that. They sell a fix kit that re-liquifies derp. Just smooth out whatevers effed up with nitrile gloves and you're done. Can spray over the area again if you want as well.
