Great forum you guys got here. Tons of info! I just signed up so I figured I'd say hello and show off my truck. I've been checking out some of the builds going on and I'm pretty damn jealous, I'm deployed right now so all I can do is dream about workin on my truck, you lucky bastards!

Ok so here's what I got, a 01 Tacoma Extra Cab with a manual V6. I bought her with aftermarket rims (American Racing I think) 32in Mickey Thompsons and either a 2 or 3 inch body lift, never measured it. (dont start hating on me yet for the BL...) Power everything, no rust on the frame, couple of dings on the body but nothing bad. Also had tint all round, I live in FL so thats a big plus. The truck runs strong as hell. Went out a couple times before I left and did some off roading and mudding. BLAST!

I plan on doing a build (posting it up on here too) and have pretty much decided to go with the expedition style. Barlowrs has a sweet build which I might have to take some ideas from. I'd like to take this thing pretty much anywhere there is a trail. Camping, fishing, hunting.

So far I put on some new rubber, replaced the clutch master cylinder (thing went out about 2 months after I bought the truck no big deal tho) and installed an XM radio. I ordered the All Pro sliders and front bumper and plan on putting those on while on R&R. When I get back to the states for good I'm going to take out the BL and do a full suspension upgrade. Not quite sure the route I'll take (height, company, etc) but that's what the search tool is for, or so I hear...

Only question I have right now is pretty simple. I want to paint the sliders and bumpers with a bed liner but not Line-X or Rino. Just something that comes in a spray can and has good grip. Something simple that I can easily touch up and not have to sell an arm for. I heard the Rustoleum one is kinda runny. Any suggestions?

That's all I got right now. On to the pictures!

Pretty much any of the spray can types are close to the same as far as texture goes, and of course they dont go on as thick as professionally installed with out lots and lots of coats.

I ended up really liking the stuff I covered my front bumper with: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/pr...ure-rubber-coating-redoing-bumper-finish.html

It is spray can, but does leave an ok texture compared to the others available.

And dont let anyone give you any greif about the body lift, as although I dont have one, I do know they have their place to help get the tires away from the fenders.

Welcome! And thanks for your service. What about just painting them black and getting some grip tape to put on them, is it because you want to step on them?

    Welcome!

I have it on good authority that lunar mist metallic 01 Extra Cabs with a manual V6 are the best possible Tacoma you can acquire. Well done.

Dupli-Color truck bed coating in a 1qt.can.More user friendly then a spray can.I used a small roller(about 3") from Home Depot.($2-$3)Foam head brush worked well also.(50 cents at W-Mart)

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

Scocar, I fully agree! Took me almost 2 years to find a V6 manual in good shape and the fact that she was the lunar silver was a hugh plus LOL!

Manlaan thanks for the point in the right direction, nice write up too thats pretty
much what I want to do.

Deevon, I thought about the grip type but I like the idea of having grip all over, you never know where youre gonna need to put your boot!
