    hmmm

Thanks for all the input guys.. That military spec thing sounds right. probably going to go with the 1/4" spacer just to play it safe. Unfortunately that will only allow me to loosen the coil about 1/8". Better than nothing.

If i go w/ the 1/2" i don't think i will have even 1 thread above the nut.

EDIT: might go w/ 3/8" top plate spacers from wheelers. Will have 1/8" of threads left which seems ok to me.

Wow I never knew how much beyond the nut was required. Good to know.

I drove it around some more today then, with it parked on level ground, I checked for rake and lean using a bubble level. It is almost perfectly level with only a very slight rake and absolutely zero lean. I'm very happy with this lift.

    That takes planning and foresight.

Original owner of a 2002 Taco (currently @ 127k and running great), I recently embarked on a 'time to be proud of my ol' truck and touch her up' quest. Besides joining this cool forum, over the last week I have:

    - Picked up a 2002 Nissan Frontier Bed Extender off CL for free (very cool find) and grabbed the brackets from my local dealership
    - Dropped in an aFe Pro DRY S 31-10013 air filter
    - Replaced the cup holder inserts (finally!)
    - Replaced the auto tranny shifter bulb
    - Replaced that POS cracked Driver Seat Track Cover (from sliding out of the seat)
    - Back to Black on the fenders - geez talk about oxidation

    - Replaced the cracked windshield (crack ran from passenger side bottom to driver side middle). Not happy with the work the local glass company did - they used this horrible generic molding which lays over the A-Frame. The windshield is that imported PGW Solex Laminated thing. While there isn't a bunch of 'shimmmer/waviness', I really cant stand that horrible molding. Talking to another glass company and will probably have them either reinstall this glass using factory molding or replace the glass entirely (with factory molding). Most will say no big deal but I like the fact that the factory molding has that 'rain lip/edge' to it and helps to reduce the amount of water beading onto the driver and passenger side windows.

slightly leaky Valve Cover gaskets will be replaced this weekend followed by a good wash/wax/detail

    To Do List:

    - Replace door trim/weather strip (http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/154485-simple-how-fix-crappy-door-trim.html)
    - fix driver seat upholstery (small rip from left side of seat cushion from sliding out of the seat)
    - Convert to LED where possible - (still researching the funkiness of this taco's electrical system when dealing with LED)
    - Back to BFG ATA's (currently running with Kumho Road Venture AT's)

Lol. Just start one and slowly make it bigger. It's great for keeping track of all of your ideas and stuff.

IMO your truck is kew. Will having a DC really make that much of a difference? Personally I like the ext cabs. It's like having the function of a DC but the form of a single cab.

Thanks thats what i figured. Going with a 3/8" spacer so ill have 3x threads above the nut or so.

Not really even a fender flare more like a flat cover

Having the dcab would be nice in taking people off-roading or just out adventuring on tame trails and driving aboot town. I think about this every so often but honestly, no family, not much dating, it isn't a requirement at this point.

OBTW, the lift ratio is about 1:1.5 so a 3/8" spacer will lift the front end about 1/2"

Most of my buddies don't even like off-roading lol. But yea same situation for me no wife/kids etc. Besides having the ext cab will make it awesome when i SAS because i will be able to move the rear axle closer to the cab and make it so i have a better wheel base.

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping that it will be more like 5/8" of lift. I guess i will only be able to loosen the coils about 1/8" anyways.

Even with flex is the goal. I've got an AAL as well and may need to run a couple of different configs to figure out what works best.

Springs and bushings came from Wheelers and the flip kit from All Pro. Great customer service, they walk me through their inventory and my setup to find the right set.

For a few years it was just me and the kid. The xtra cab was perfect.

Now I'm dating a woman so it'll be interesting stuffing the child in the rear jump seats again.

I'd love to have a double cab for the interior cab space but I couldn't do it with the smaller bed. And I'd never pull a trailer off road. I'd destroy my truck, trailer, trail, trees, ego, rivers and the fabric of our entire Universe if I ever tried that.
