I got my 2000 4x4 regular cap from a friend two years ago in 2011. He was first owner. I saw a few rusted parts like exhaust pipe and i am worried recently. After research, there was a rust recall program for 1995 to 2000 toyota. Can i still take my in for inspection

I may be wrong, but I think it has to be within 10 years of the manufacture date.

Unless it was different in the year range (and I'm pretty sure it wasn't), you had 15 yrs warranty from date the truck was first put in service (registered and titled, that is). My wife had a 96 that was bought back in 2008.

The exhaust is not covered at all. Only the actual frame. Is it rusty?

To the best of my knowledge, the window for an initial frame inspection is closed. If it was inspected during the open window period and passed, it is still eligible to be inspected and if the frame fails, replaced.

The 15 year frame warranty only applies to vehicles that had the initial frame inspection during that defined period. And it is for 15 years from the in-service date for vehicle.

    Best of luck
