Correct me if I am wrong, BUT TRDs came only V6

I have the rear locker and a 2.7. mine is the push button and they say you can only put it in in 4 low but the grey wire mod i did lets me pop it in in 2 high.

Im not sure about the later models but mine is in fact a 2.7 5 Speed TRD without a locker. They're out there, just not common.

 

They didn't even offer a TRD package until '98

 

Anyone notice the truck is in Connecticut. Could be a rust bomb.

 

For what it maybe worth from a 2003 Toyota Tacoma brochure:

TRD Off-Road Package—"...includes off-road-tuned suspension with Bilstein® 2 high-pressure gas shocks and progressive-rate springs, P265/70R16 BFGoodrich tires on 16” 5-spoke aluminum alloy wheels,3-locking rear differential,4-black fender flares3, 5 and TRD graphics"

Also: #7-(TRD 4x4) "Not available on 4-cylinder automatic transmission models."

Appears there maybe errors from the brochure?

And yeah, the sticker was the first thing that caught my eye that gave me a red flag on it not being a true TRD. At least get the correct stickers for the year haha

 

From the looks of it, it is not. The Trd logo part is black there, and mine which is real yes, is all white.

 

The proper first gen stickers are linear with the "TRD Offroad". The second gens have the "Offroad" staggered below the TRD

 

Indeed they did. 2.7 I4 doublecab. Rear e locker was not an option.
However pretty sure extra cab, 4x4, trd all had elocker.
I could be mistaken.

The vin tag on the firewall says 15x7 rims not 16 trd's.

 

Me thinks he may be among us and has realized the errors of his trickery

 

I guess I missed this the first time around but he's a dealer.
All his positive comments are on vehicles. Oh well, still a pretty fair deal. Add an arb in the rear and your good to go.

and if u look right beside the steering wheel. the place where its a differnt peice of the dash that is where the locker button goes

I stand corrected. Perhaps it was just the TRD's with 4 cyl and auto trans that didn't get the locker?
