I have a rostra cruise control in my truck, but also led taillights. They don't work together. Does anyone know of a different relay I can switch to, or a way to trick the cruise control to think my brake lights are drawing the proper amperage? I want to finally get my cruise working after 3 months.

resistors or diode? seems to do the trick for most lights.

I might try resistors, but the rostra people said I needed a relay. I asked the guy about resistors and he didn't know.

It thinks there is a bulb out so the cruise won't activate.

Seems like a resister would solve your issue

It's tied into the brake switch so when you hit the brakes the cruise shuts off.

Question. Where is the relay for the blinkers? Or reason I didn't switch to led bulbs is cause I didn't want hyperblink, and am too lazy to add resistors haha

I haven't found a replacement relay that would be an upgrade to the current brake relay. It isn't the same as a flasher relay. I will see if I can get some 50 watt resistors locally and try that first.

I have a whole led light assembly.

Update.... I installed 50 watt 6 ohm resisters on both brake lights and the cruise still doesn't work. It must an internal wiring issue or something. Time to dig deeper.

might be something with those assemblies not grounding correctly? I read somewhere that if you run a ground wire directly from the socket to the body/frame for a more solid ground it might help the issue :notsure:

I installed some led bulbs in the stock tail lights one time and I found out the these trucks don't like it. The tail lights, transmission, and cruise control are all tied together and after I installed them I got on the interstate the next morning and when it shifted to overdrive it went crazy. I would shift on and out of OD like five or six times until I picked up some speed and then it would quit. I just took them out but I always figured a resistor would fix it. :notsure:

if its thinking that the bulb is out because its not drawing enough power then try resistors. Super easy and inexpensive to at least try. The resistors will make it draw the normal amount of power.

The only bad thing is when you have resistors it won't tell you when your bulb is out (like for turn signals) because it always thinks the bulb is working because the resistor is working.

Now I have worse issues. My right turn signal is somehow linked to the brakes now and hyper flashes and completely going dead when I hit the brakes. So now I'm removing the resistors.

here's another question, do you have a hitch wiring plug-in?

If you do you will need one designed for LEDs as the standard ones do not work well with them as the current draw is relayed into them (or something along the lines of the crap I just spewed :) )

This issue corrected itself this morning. Aliens...

Yes I do. So I need this? My trailer lights worked fine the last time I used them but I'm guessing that is irrelevant.

I read somewhere on here that they had issues when replaced all lights with LEDs that bleed-over happened due to the pigtail harness. I'd check but am heading out for awhile and just getting my TW fix for the short-term :D
