Does anyone know what the narrow black tube in this photo is called? And what does it do?? I'm not talking about the electrical running in the back of the photo, but the tube in front of it. It runs from a metal "nipple" on the side if the 4WD shifter, to another metal nipple on the side of the other shifter. The tube is broken where it connects to one of the nipples, and it's leaking small amounts of gear oil. I want to replace it but I don't know what it's called so I don't know how to shop for it...

    Thanks!

Interesting. If it's a vent, then why is the tube closed? Where does it vent to?

Is it a vent for the t-case INTO the trans, and then out the Trans breather valve?

Could be off base here. I think it is like the differential breathers. Not air tight. Allows hot air to escape.

Thanks for the info. I have a feeling they're not going to have one of these at autozone...

Grey wire and keyless entry. I like stock.
No but just get generic hose that's around the same ID and it'll work fine just wont have the prebent turns in it but they don't matter so long as air can vent through it.

This. Anything with the proper inner diameter will work.

I think it vents into the adapter free space which is pretty protected.

Can anyone explain to me how this thing works? I've seen the other threads on extending breather clearance, and I get how breather valves function. But where is the valve/vent on this thing? It's just a line connecting the Trans and t-case...

Primer says "it's not air tight, allows air to escape". Well, if that's the case, then buying generic hose won't work, will it? I guess I'm just confused about the function, cuz this thing isnt really a valve. How does it work? If it serves the function of releasing pressure or hot air, then why is it set up differently from all the other valves on the Trans and diffs?

    Thanks for clarifying!
