I couldn't find silicon grease but I didn't look very hard. I also used Mobile 1 grease (synthetic and red in color). I figured I could still use it on everything else so I went that route rather than having to have two grease guns. I like it cuz it matches the red urethane bushings, not a very technical reason but it is a great product.

    Thread revival...

    Hi Chris,

TC recommends teflon based grease for the sleeves and bushings. Why do you prefer Mobil 1? Is it because grease is just grease or it has some advantages?

I am planning to install the UCA this weekend. Your opinion matters.:)

I have never heard a peep outta my UCA's or any I have installed when I have used Mobil 1 grease. Not sure of the differences between it, and a Teflon based grease, but TC said Mobil 1 would be fine, and it has been so far. My personal reason for useing Mobil 1 grease, is because of its High temperature tollerance. I use it on just about everything that needs to be greased. :)

Mobil 1 specs show -40 F to +302 F. while the teflon based boast of -65 F to +500 F. Teflon based seems to better in this aspect, yet you've been using Mobile 1 for some time now, so I trust that it works fine. I guess I don't need teflon grease. Thanks for your prompt response.

I don't mean to thread jack but I have a question.
My stock UCA bushings are squeaking like crazy. I'm planning on taking the UCA off, cleaning the bushings really well and lubing them before re-installing them.

Should I use the Dry Teflon lube mentioned, or Mobil1 Synthetic grease?

    Thanks for the responses.

For the bushings, I bought some Prothane brand teflon grease from Jeg's.
Energy Suspension reccommends teflon grease(milky white & tacky) or marine grease in lieu of.
Mobil One should work fine; I just have OCD when it comes to these things.

For the uniballs, I bought the DuPont teflon spray.

My UCA squeaked a lot with Mobil 1. I replaced the grease in the bushings and the squeak is gone!;)
