Well I decided to paint my skid plate and this is how it turned out. Excuse the poor quality photos and this is the first time I've ever done this so for me I think it turned out well, I'm sure some of you guys can make it much better.

So I removed the skid plate and decided I wanted a TRD emblem on it while I have it off also. So I got out the ol' blue tape and started taping.
    2010-11-09-20-27-08-654_85d3dfa0f678d487971086111c41de660bf0d434.jpg

Got the tape on and started stenciling the "TRD" on free hand, the first time it was to large and not centered.

    Ahhh... that's better!

Time to start peeling then I realized my "D" was not looking good so I had to fix it, notice the difference in the pics below.

Now it was time to spray can it with 4 coats and let it dry. The finished product turned out pretty well I think :)

I know you guys are saying, what's the point, you can't really see it, but I know its there and I think even that little bit of Silver looks nice under the truck!

Looks like you did a very good job on it, but I'm on the fence. It's a little too mall crawler for me and would get scratched and ruined my first trip I take with it on the trail.

Thanks for the comments guys, I don't do any wheeling as the area is flat as a pancake in my area, so I don't have to worry about chips. I just use my truck for driving back and forth to work and towing my boat.

I would never be able to draw straight lines freehand like that.
Looks pretty cool and it gave you and your truck some bonding time.:)

    Check this thread out.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...iller-punisher-skid-plate-installed-pics.html

I painted my skid plate body colored and then wrapped it with clear 3M protective film. Almost 8 months later and it still looks amazing. Trust me, you will want to protect it. You'd be surprised how much stuff hits it going down the highway. Bugs, small rocks, etc.

My skid plate will still protect my truck. BUT...that is not it's primary purpose on my truck since it hardly ever goes off-road and when it does go off-road, it's nothing major. If I had a 4x4, I would probably get into off-roading and then my skid plate wouldn't look like that, but...I didn't want or need a 4x4.

Not every Yota was meant to be a rock crusher, I too live in the flat lands, Ohio. However Mall Crawler doesn't work for me as I stay as far away from the malls as possible, you know the traffic, cars and people. Nice job on the creating the stencil and it looks good too.

I think it looks pretty cool. Now when you run someone over they have a way of identifying your truck. Nice free hand skills!

Btw, it looks like you came down on something already, or was that dent there to begin with?

Yeah I just purchased the truck about 3 weeks ago, so it was already there. Its funny that you joked about running someone over because I was talking to someone earlier and said the same thing :D

Because A) It's my truck, B) That's NOT its purpose on my truck, and C) As stated before, my truck hardly ever goes off-road and when it does, it's not on "trails" or anything crazy.

I appreciate your input, but I'm really not concerned about it. My skid plate is not stock which was part of the appeal. Your front bumper has function, but you partially bought it because it looks cool. But that's OK, I'm fine with you modifying your truck how you see fit.
