ALSD is basically traction control (which brakes wheels and cuts power) minus the power cutting (so it acts as an LSD).

The RSC button you're talking about is for side airbags.

Doesn't really work for me at times

I've heard something similar to this before from some guys, and many of them said that winches saved thier ass way more often than 4WD, hence my Warn Trans4mer winch mount idea.

2wd = fail off road... unless by 'offroad' you mean dry, hardpack, class 1-2 trails and roads... then tear it up.

Anyone that thinks 2WD is the same as 4WD is kidding themselves and everyone they spout the claim to. A stock 4WD will go places a stock 2WD will never go.. A stock 4x4 will go places a locked-diff 2WD will most likely never see too. When it comes down to it an open diff 2wd (traction control or not) will likely not even make it up a moderate grade, wet, grassy, hill that a 4x4 goes up w/o a hitch.

2wd is great for desert racing.

I also agree w/ a lot of the previous comments that 4x4 gets you stuck further from home. I often find myself looking at an obsticle and deciding if I can make it.. I would never try in 2WD but in 4WD I do... and usually end up stuck.

Know your limits - truck capabilities & your driving experiece.

Don't go beyond those limits. Offroading involves a lot of decision making. The wrong decisions can result in various outcomes.

The right tires also make a difference. By most all accounts I've read, the stock Duncraps are not too swift.

You needed to read an account for that? Lol, this is very true. The stock Dunlops are mediocre, standard highway tires. Going to any kind of A/T tire would probably made a big improvement. Hell, even the Rugged Fails, as they are affectionately known, from the stock 4x4's would stomp the Dunlops into submission.

I have a Prerunner TRD Off Road. Obviously it is not gonna be crawling through mud or over boulders (none of those here in Florida) but on dirt forest trails like we have here were the worst thing is going to be sugar sand the locking rear diff works just fine for me. Airdown the tires and lock in the rear end and off and away. This picture was taken on the edge of the clear cut near the navy bombing range in Ocala National Forest. I had stock rugged trails back then but Now I hve Genneral Grabber AT2 on my truck and should have no problems going offroad with those, like I said the worst thing I have to worry about here is sugar sand and maybe some mud usualy I am able to drive around it though

Nice picture! I spent a fair bit of time hiking out in Ocala and biking Razor Back before they closed it down. It is a nice 'inland' part of FL.
