I bought a house in May and started needing to haul stuff, drive on dirt/gravel, etc. Grew up in the country, driving my dad's truck on the farm (who needs a tractor? ) so i always felt good driving a truck. Now that i have a house, it was a great excuse. :D. So last week I pulled the trigger.

Once I decided on a pickup, it was a no-brainer to pick the taco. My wife's corolla is a reliable and well designed sedan. I no longer trust the "big three", as I've had major issues with all of them. Had a Honda civic and loved it, so i would have considered Honda, Toyota, and maybe Nissan. I don't really like the looks of t he Nissan, and honda doesn't make a smaller truck... I wanted something a bit smaller than the full size trucks. taco is the best-selling, best looking, best designed truck in this segment. So all of my criteria were pushing me toward this. Just what i wanted.

Because Toyota bought back my 99 Taco :(

Daily Driving: It gets pretty decent mileage, and it looks good.

Hunting: Hauls all my gear, deer/elk. 4x4 and TRD Locker allow me to get pretty much anywhere I want/need.

Fishing: Pulls my boat(s). 4 door allows me to take several people fishing (girls love fishing) :)

It sucked for those purposes, (as well as others), so bought this:

I got my Tacoma because it was the best looking truck out there, Toyota is the most reliable manufacturer out there in my opinion, and it gets better gas mileage than my old truck. I use it for some off roading, hauling and for my daily driving.

    I love my Taco. :taco::taco:

I had driven trucks for years, had a kid and bought a Highlander. It was a good little car but I couldn't nearly enough stuff around in it for camping, scuba diving or building materials so I sold it and bought the Tacoma.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Didn't vote, my option was not available, or I wanted all of the above. Always have loved the Tacoma (or Toyota P/U) as it has evolved. Going back to Marty McFly's truck, to my first truck '87 Toyota 4x4, to my brother's '92, to the 1st and 2nd gens. Meets my needs for a truck, towing, and although I don't have 4 wheel drive, in my old age I don't do the kind of off roading I did in my youth, so it meets my current needs for off-roading.

I always like the toyotas, i got into moto racing and needed a truck to haul my atv. Instead of buying a beater and keeping my wrx i decided i was better off just buying a truck that would last me a long time and i sold my wrx to buy the taco. I still miss my wrx but i do love my taco

I just got back from Afghanistan and needed a vehicle. I have a 86 K30 with a Big Block and it just drinks the Gas. I first started looking at SUVs and really liked the Xterra. Then I looked at the Pilot, Ridgeline and the FJ.

Decided to testdrive a Tacoma and stopped looking. It has everything I want and from the competition, it's a GREAT value. You get a LOT for your money with a Tacoma.

PLUS...My dealer gave me a Lifetime warranty with it.

Can't beat that with a stick.

(sorry to spoil the party but I wanna share & figure I'll end up with a 2nd gen eventually)

I'll tell ya why I got a Tacoma...

'cause you can run a Toyota truck into a freight train & live.

    True story, pics here...
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/new-members/120653-new-member-omaha-ne.html

Back in the day, I thought Marty McFly had the sweetest truck.
I loved my first truck (88) so much I replaced it with another one.
And when that replacement (90) rusted out I replaced it with yet another one.
And when my 96 wears out or fails the rust inspection, I plan on getting another Tacoma to replace it.

I'm a Tacoma owner mainly because I think they're the best truck out there for the money.
I also haul toys (motorcycles & mountainbike) and other stuff like supplies for home projects.
I rarely go offroading, but it's fun to have the option.

I always roll a truck. I do not like full size trucks. The Tacoma is a perfect size for me. They are the most stylish truck in its' class. IMO Then it's a Toyota so even better. i like their autos
