JL Audio IMO makes the best stuff.

I have used them in my past 3 vehicle's and i swear by their stuff.

As for models, i have not used the newer versions (i.e. the C2, C3, C5) as I always used the XR components. They were rated in the 75 watt per channel I believe, but I put 100 watts to them and had no issues what so ever as they could accomondate up to 150.

I would have to say the C5 is the comparable model to look at.

Hopes this help and this thread will most likely be moved to the audio/video section.

You should go to a few different audio shops to listen to the speakers they have hooked up. They all sound very different, so only you can decide what you think sounds the best for your application. That's what I did and settled on a pair of JL vr components.

I do high end car audio for a living and these are some of the cleanest sounding speakers I have ever used. Expensive, but you get what you pay for...

Another less expensive brand with similar sound characteristics is a company called Hertz

If you have a Hertz Audio dealer in your area check them out. Their Hi Energy line is awesome. Tons of mid bass great highs and crystal clear

I am debating on hertz, morel, focal.
Looking to put a 3 way component set up in the front and 2 way component set up in the rear doors and swap out oem sub for a better one.
Plan on using factory head unit for a while as it does what I need it to.
Looking also into dsp either through aftermarket amps or independent unit.

Any thoughts, opinions, input would be awesome thanks.
Also for front component set looking at upto 450.00 for a set for the 3 way component setup.

Hertz, Audison, Morel, Focal, JL. Try the audio and video forum. Depends on if you want Italian or Israeli products really. With high end speakers you'll want a good amp (JL Audio, American)

I’ve run JL, Kicker, Hertz, Audison, and finally Morel. If you’re looking, do it the cheap way. Take your music in USB to some shops, and listen. My way is expensive. :D:spending:

Also, I like my Morels’ the best. I prefer a more “laidback” sound.

I'm running infinity kappas with just a 50w head unit, no problems getting it stupid loud if need be. Sound great, image great, but will say that I think kicker has better tweeters from the KS set I previously had.

I have all Image Dynamics speakers/tweeters/sub and an Image Dynamics amp powering the speakers and an Alpine amp powering the sub. Sounds fantastic. This is just my opinion, and i like high quality audio, but the high end gears intricacy sounds will get drowned out by road noise in these trucks most likely. Not like sitting at home in a nice quiet environment and being able to hear all the details of the audio. I'm super happy with my setup - i think its a great balance of loudness and quality.

not if you're doing it right. sound deadening is the foundation of a high end car audio installation.

I mean, my truck has sound deadening, granted… not like some full floor to ceiling job, but it’s road noise coming through the door seals and stuff that drowns out a lot of audio noise. I’m speaking particularly to freeway driving… around town my system sounds amazing and any high end system would too. But I just don’t see sound deadening fixing noise coming through door seals, etc. If sound deadening does remedy that, great, but it doesn’t in my application. Our trucks aren’t built like a luxury vehicle and I’m not sure they will ever get to that level of interior quietness.

Start with a full floor to ceiling job, Dynamat or equivalent, Dynaliner or equivalent, mass loaded vynil as you can. I did, and it's significantly more quiet. Throwing random squares on panels helps, but doing it properly makes a world of difference. Don't be afraid to replace seals, yours are what? 10 years old at this point?
