Hello all! New to this forum as I just bought my 2005 Tacoma Double Cab and I have been going over it and getting familiar. In the process I have discovered that the center left hand (or Drivers Right Hand) dash vent is literally blocked or at least passes almost NO air through it even with the Fan in the HI position. It also is regardless of the fresh air being open or closed and it is consistent regardless of the setting for the air. (ie Floor, Dash, Defog etc.) Obviously it is either blocked or the duct is disconnected to it. I have looked all over the forum and see nothing of this nature and was hoping that someone might have experienced this and fixed it and could give some advice. If that is not the case then an idea of attacking this by opening the dash might be helpful. Any and all help appreciated in advance!

    getting there....
check the cabin filter first.......your truck may have one. if so...its located behind the glove box. easy to get to........05 tacomas didnt come with the filters, but someone may have installed on there.

Good advice. I did change the cabin filter however and one was there already. It is obviously built for one and I did see that there was no part # for one when I bought the replacement. That being said, the three other dash vents blow very strong and the LH middle has virtually nothing coming out. I am going to install a USA SPEC Ipod Interface in a few days and am hoping that the acess provided by having the radio out will give me some info as to what is the issue. I believe your idea is good but I don't see that it would block one vent but would probably block all of them...Keep it coming,

Obvious question here, but do you have the vent closed? Move the thing at the base of the vent and see if it's open or closed. (circled in red below)

Sometimes people melt the ducts behind the dash to install those big fancy radios. That could have happened to you. I haven't heard that this is necessary or even possible in Tacomas, but it might be. Could it also be that someone stuck a few pine tree fresheners in the vent and then they fell down into the abyss to block the air.

What happens if you close the other vents and leave the blocked one open?

Shoot. That just directs the airflow, doesn't it? Damnit. I need to get my truck back on the road. It's been so long that I forget how it works!

You guys are thinking for sure. As noted the vents are "open," so to speak and closing the rest does barely help get a little more out of the vent itself, but it acts as if it has something blocking it from inside. I guess I need to know how to get it apart??? Sucks! I like the idea about the air fresheners. That souds very possible. I have half a mind to get a fish tape and go fishing to see if I get joy. Keep it coming,

Nobody's posted it yet, so here is how to remove the radio so you can see what's going on behind...

    Pretty fierce looking truck, btw.

looking at the mods on the truck, I bet the previous owner had upgraded the stereo.

Sorry I don't frequent the forum much. It has been a REALLY long time ago....15 years ha. Yes i had to pull the radio as I recall and was able to gain access to the duct work I think and I opened it up and some of the foam that was glued inside the duct work had come loose and blocked the duct. Something like that....
