I'm thinking that maybe she's sending you the "please slow down" or the "please, let us both slow down" signals. It's easier to justify a purchase when you can explain it as "necessary" (ie, a bed), but the fact that ~$6,000 just got spent, and $2,000 more potentially out the door could make any parent/spouse cringe, whether the items are drop-dead necessary (or affordable) or not.

I would advise opening a savings account (I use ING personally) and putting your truck money into it. That way, your $2,000 is ear-marked, but you can hold off for a month or two to give the both of you a financial-breather.

 

Simple fix, make the truck bigger. Then you can spend money on your big ish truck.
