I would just get bed bars...but I have a tonneau cover that I had removed when those pictures were taken. You can see the rails and the tension screws if you look close. Anyway point is I cant use the bed bars with the cover so I figured the only thing I can do is Yakima style rails on top of the bed rail caps. There is a thread somewhere on how to do it, but they removed the plastic caps completely. Ideally I want to be able to mount the basket to bars that are high enough that I can still roll my cover under it if I need to.

pretty much did the same thing minus the mounts for the cables. its solid enough that i dont hear it so im happy with it. I wanted to put in on the back but its a 60inch hi lift so it has to go on the side.

yeah i know exactly what you mean. Mines kinda resting on the wheel well so its as solid as its going to get. Im not that brave to drill into the bed, so its staying that way. Btw i saw your wright up on your mounting system, really nice work  , thanks for the suggestion. (Hope im not sounding defensive, if i am, not trying to be lol )

No worries, you didn't sound defensive. And thanks for the compliment. I just remember not liking how the brackets flexed and could shift. Figured I would throw it out there. Should you decide to drill it, I am pretty sure you can reach the "outside" of the bed through the wheel well, you just have to get the plastic splash guard out of the way.
